Men have never stopped being men.

Old school men would revoke your rights as a woman, heck they would still do it now in some countries, is that what you want?

I get what you mean, there is a lot of equality these days, some like it and some don't. I am a little "old school" but just go with the flow really, however I think you are really meaning manners, only small things but they definitely go a long way... Xx

"Men well putting it bluntly being men."

The ridiculous notion of 'men being men' is incredibly unhelpful for men and wider society. It has serious ramifications.

And any man who is willing to treat you as less than an equal doesn't deserve your time.

Right, so Republicans did not stack the Supreme Court to get rid of Roe v Wade, and certain states haven't rushed through drastic anti abortion bills and none of these in anyway impede on womens rights? And absolutely none of this has anything to do with the religious racist agendas set out by not having enough “white” babies to adopt?

As for the comment about making more than me, do we now need to get into My Dads bugger than your Dad territory?

I'm sorry, but I can't understand what you're actually asking.

There is a fair amount of research that shows that male suicide - one of the primary causes of early death in men - is directly related to societal expectations to be a so-called real man.

That is, rather than seeing a counsellor, or talking to their friends, men should "man up" and "grow a pair" and be a real man.

However, I'm not sure why we're even having this conversation. Shouldn't you being in the kitchen, doing the laundry or breastfeeding the kids? You seem to have a rather selective understanding of what being a man's man actually is (the kind that is more often held by an insecure man, not a woman).

Male and female equality should never be in question in my opinion. As with any equality when it come to human beings. We are All the same at end of the day. However I do agree that chivalry is dead. Men of a certain era are brought up to respect women and be gentlemanly towards them ie open doors ect. Today's society has men second guessing themselves in fear of being branded whatever the in vogue term is.

1) I didn't call you anything

2) You replied to yourself

3) Do you know which of us you are replying to? The wife or the husband? No.

4) You have no idea what property I own, or what it's worth. Nor do I know about yours (and frankly don't care).

5) Are you aware that posting on an online forum from some kind of modern technological device seemingly is in opposition to all the "values" you railed against at the start?

6) Women fought and died for the rights I now enjoy as a 21st century woman. I'm going to grasp those rights with both hands and fight for them to remain and develop worldwide.

You keep stating that things are "facts." And when someone points out to you that it is not that cut and dried, you just ignore them.

Even your own alleged military career refutes your own point!

And what do you make of the 5'7 skinny guy who is married to the 5'9 female MMA fighter? Is he still the 'king'?

You could have inspired an interesting series of discussions in this thread, but you fail to properly reply to your respondents and your own argument seems to be all over the place.

That's probably why, traditionally, debates were left to the men, whilst the women cleared away the plates and dishes. I'm guessing you'd prefer that?

"Played the man game... Did 20 years in the army.. airbourne qualified .. 2tours in combat situations ..yet men.. no offense ...how is that equal? It was raised men. You are the protectors.. the glue to our empathy. Yet things change

if you are so manly in the US why do you need guns to protect your families.

"It's still a physical analysis.. men have superior advantage over a a woman.. it's facts unless a equal perception is involved.

Yet he has the drive to kill why is that.. I do not I chose the medical field not combat? "

In the past, you've expounded the virtues of killing animals for sport, so that would suggest you also have a drive to kill. Any human being is capable of killing, it's not gender specific. You have failed to separate nature from nurture.

"Yet he has the drive to kill why is that.. I do not I chose the medical field not combat? "

You may struggle to believe this, but I don't personally know anyone who has the drive to kill. But maybe I don't surround myself with real men.

Saying that, I don't know any women with the drive to kill either. So, I don't knownif that supports your ever-changing point or not?

You chose the medical field? I thought you were in the army and performed better than all of the men. (Do you want to come back to this when you're sober?)

Incidentally, my GP is a man (who has never been a soldier or demonstrated the drive to kill). Does that mean he's not a real man? Or has he evolved beyond such basic gendered assumptions?

Could you perhaps summarise and explain the actual point you are making?

As I said, I don't know - personally - and men inclined to taking someone else's life. We must move in different crowds.

As for why you believe men are more inclined - despite *you* apparently having been in the military - you answered your own question:

'it's a society aspect that "tells" you what is and what is not right'

Well said. Question asked and answered.

Tbh, I'm going to duck out of this thread here (see, no inclination to kill or even win!) I would be happy to pick it up again when a) you can clarify what your actual point is, b) you are sober and c) I am confident you are not misrepresenting your gender.

Safety from what?

Might there be a 'safer' way?

To perhaps take the guns away altogether?

Are you happy for that to be an everyday fact there?

How would you carrying a gun protect you or anyone else from a mass killing?

How often are you in danger of being shot going about your day to day life?

Dancing in the kitchen.. sitting by camp fires .. no internet no tv just us.. talking and enjoying one another's company. Not gaming watching TV and ignoring one another."

So engaging with you isn't treating you as equal but ignoring while playing computer games is? Confused.

couple, us we him her.

Haven't read whole thread.

I think what the OP means is a gentleman.

Lot's of today's guy's have zero idea of how to act gentlemanly.

You can treat someone as an equal yet still be in a position to act charming and gentlemanly.

And done correctly with meaning without forcing it ,it's totally natural without being patronising.

Problem is lot's of women don't want this.

I remember coming out of a shop once and holding the door open for a woman who was behind us, she went nuts shouting at me about don't I think she's capable of operating a door and so on..... She's not a feeble bodied and minded female who can't open a door!!

I just let the door go in her face and walked off.

I'm a man, I want my wife to feel protected, loved and safe ,I want to put my arms around her and make her feel like nothing can harm her.

If other women don't like this attitude tough.

Everything we do,every decision is as a couple.

"Men well putting it bluntly being men.

The ridiculous notion of 'men being men' is incredibly unhelpful for men and wider society. It has serious ramifications.

And any man who is willing to treat you as less than an equal doesn't deserve your time.

Men have a different view.. factno we don't, everyone is equal in my eyes.

How so.. you have the ability to physically outperform a woman.. the inequality proves what again ?

I was in the US army no matter how hard I tried to be one of the guys .. even though I out ranked and had better schooling .. yet I just a woman... Like I said it's better to treat us as women you all can't handle a woman that out preforms men."

I have no problem whatsoever with women being successful.

You seek the want to lump all men into a single category and pretend that they all think in exactly the same way.

I am delighted when the women in my life achieve success.

Yeah, I’m struggling to see how a man’s ability to extricate himself from having a large woman sitting on his face proves anything significant in terms of equality.

No everyone asks why

.I own weapons why is it always men..so tell me why the indifference on that point.. do I protect myself or trust every man I see

.. choices I think I should carry and not worry about the others agenda... Right to choose.im not wasting my time with a person who believes the shite you have wrote on this thread.

Exactly you can't so move on.. again I ask why men.. I own ARs an AKs and other semi auto weapons.. why men show up at the majority of mass shootings. Ok it it inequality on machomism? Here ? Not saying euro you don't have that

What on earth do you feel you need to protect yourself from that you need an arsenal of semi-automatic weapons for?!

I must say I'm sat here at my home working desk, in suburban Greater Manchester, with no guns or anything more substantial than kitchen knives and I feel safe as houses. Okay, we do also have a geological hammer, but it was purchased for breaking rocks, not skulls!"

This thread certainly morphed into a completely different topic

Seriously? You’re the one who started a thread opposing equality and turned it into a discussion about weapons.

If it helps, last time i was in the states I carried a cz75 and fs dagger, and some knuckles, but apparently the brass wasn't legal so i left them at the office.

Like commando daggers and 9mms are fine but brass knuckles are sooooo dangerous.

I agree that happens, but in this case, the starting point was pretty far from 2+2...

If the risk assessment for someone who “just wants to be left alone” requires the carrying of knuckle dusters, daggers and guns, then the correct risk assessment is to keep the person well away from their situation, as it clearly isn’t safe. You don’t knowingly go into a situation where such firepower and lowlife weapons are needed. This is starting to sound like fantasy

I mentioned not carrying them. In california they are illegal to carry but not own, in texas they are legal to own and carry. In the uk they are illegal to import, sell, carry or own. American armed security often carry weapons as back up to a firearm. So do american self defence types a lot of the time.

You mentioned not carrying them? In your opening line, you said the exact opposite: “ last time i was in the states I carried a cz75 and fs dagger, and some knuckles”. And then clarified that this was in California.

You then said it was illegal to carry knuckles in California. So you were carrying knuckles illegally? What about the “daggers”? Legal to carry not not?

Why would a security person need to carry a dagger?

"Yet he has the drive to kill why is that.. I do not I chose the medical field not combat?

You may struggle to believe this, but I don't personally know anyone who has the drive to kill. But maybe I don't surround myself with real men.

Saying that, I don't know any women with the drive to kill either. So, I don't knownif that supports your ever-changing point or not?

You chose the medical field? I thought you were in the army and performed better than all of the men. (Do you want to come back to this when you're sober?)

Incidentally, my GP is a man (who has never been a soldier or demonstrated the drive to kill). Does that mean he's not a real man? Or has he evolved beyond such basic gendered assumptions?

Could you perhaps summarise and explain the actual point you are making? . Yet men more inclined to follow though to taking someone else's life than women. Why is that ? Our empathy is different."

From your house, out, around, then back home again, in perfect saftey without hitch or incident.

… daggers and knuckle dusters? Doesn’t sound legit.

Depends on the country.

Security people are allowed to use daggers in the US?

You have already stated that you weren’t allowed to use knuckle dusters in the US. Why did you even mention them? Do you use them in the UK?

And it says apparently they were illegal so i left them in the office.

And i think it's perfectly obvious why you'd carry a knife and a gun.

Stop trying to get me to say i was breaking a law.

I've carried a knuckle duster in European countries.

I've carried an UZI, G3 and R1 (fn fal) in Africa but not all at the same time.

I've patroled private property in the States with those lousey AR15/CAR15s.

Like commando daggers and 9mms are fine but brass knuckles are sooooo dangerous.

I lived in the US for 5 years and somehow survived without any weapons at all

I was working.

So was I

I was working for someone who wanted to be left alone

… and you did this using daggers and knuckle dusters?

I was working with normal people in a big city. Never had a single situation where I felt I needed a weapon

Well if the risk assessment demands that's kinda how you carry. We did have soft armour, IFAK, Defib and some other bits and bobs too.

California is quite far from England

I know. I have been there many times. If someone can afford armed guards can they can also afford to simply avoid dangerous situations. First rule of self defence.

“Last time I was in the state’s car I carried … some knuckles”.

That isn’t true then?

And no, it is not obvious to me why a security person would carry a dagger, which is why I asked the question. I can understand a blunt instrument like a baton, but not a dagger.

Your comment that you "prefer being treated like a woman not a equal", seems troubling to me. Women are equal, even if you want to be treated as a woman, though it's uncertain what that means, from the OP. Equality is an essential right. Similarly, everyone should be treated with respect and other standard social values.

Sexually, you can engage as each partner agrees to. Set your ground rules clearly.

If someone tried to treat me as not equal I'd kick them into touch sharpish. Probably touch circa 1950.

Different from the theatrics of chivalry. If someone carried on like that with me I would be desperately uncomfortable but polite, and ask them to desist in future. I recognise it can be well meaning
