On the fence.

Seen a couple of things but shrugged them off.

But when you see all the ancient symbols that have been discovered, showing phones, aircraft etc, makes you think, especially how fast technology has come around over the past 50 years.

The alleged “nazi bell”, crash at roswell, advances in tech this quick may be reverse engineered.

We were still playing with turbo props and ram/pulse jets at the end of WW2, now turbine engines, vtol aircraft, massive advancements in radar detection and stealth.

Take Star Trek TOS, hand held flip communicators, look at Star Trek TNG, computer tablets, eye tech.

Makes you think.

Pretty sure they is alien life. But they should be far and away from us. Unless there is a way to overcome the speed of light which looks theoretically impossible for now, I don't think an alien ship coming specifically to earth has probability that we need to be concerned about. Forget speed of light, even accelerating to half the speed isn't easy and has plenty of dangers associated with them.

Alien life? I believe there is. UFOs? I don't think anyone has or ever will see one.

It is not a question of distance (to other habitable worlds) but time. Our planet is 4.5 billion years old. Intelligent life has existed on this plant for about 0.01% of its age. If that is true of the universe or even the galaxy then, not only does an alien species have to develop FTL travel, but then they have to visit us in an extremely narrow window of opportunity…

Yes I am sure that there is life on other planets (there are more stars (suns) in the visible universe than there are grains of sand on earth), but to witness it or it witness us? Highly improbable.

"Anyone been to Area 51?

I don't believe for a minute they have I think it's a distraction. Fly a few bright objects around, put lots of armed guards around and very publicly deny any strange goings on. If the US government do have any crashed ufo's then they're not at area 51 they've been very clever and bluffed people into believing they are and kept it up for years so they don't look anywhere else.

Agreed hopefully someone is smart enough to get this Alcubierre warp drive concept to a reality so that we can have the opportunity to look for intelligent life

The Drake Equation is interesting stuff.

Basically, there are more stars in our own galaxy (the Milky Way) than there are grains of sand on the entire planet. The chances of intelligent life existing in a solar system formed around any one of these stars is vanishingly small given the planet would need to be in the "habitable zone" of the host star and any civilisation(s) on such a planet had not already destroyed it/themselves. Anyway, At the last estimation the Drake Equation calculates there are approximately 5,000 such planets in our own galaxy (not the entire universe).

The big problem is distance. Distances in space are huge - the nearest intelligent civilisation is likely hundreds - if not thousands - of light years away. Despite what science fiction claims faster than light travel is not possible. If you sent a "hello" to such a civilisation it would take hundreds or thousands of years to get there. The reply would take an equal amount of time to come back.

And remember, that is just within our own galaxy which is just a very small part of the known universe.

It really does seem unlikely that any alien race that had created (impossible) faster-than-light travel would somehow develop a habit of crashing into some mid-western part of North America. I mean, that's like descending the stairs only to trip over a fucking spider at the bottom...

"TAnyway, At the last estimation the Drake Equation calculates there are approximately 5,000 such planets in our own galaxy (not the entire universe).

"

The Milky Way (Our own Galaxy) is estimated to contain 100–400 billion stars and at least that number of planets.

With regards to galaxies, estimates among different experts vary, but an acceptable range is between 100 billion and 200 billion galaxies.

I'm not a gambling person, but with odds like that, the chance there isn't some form of life in our galaxy, let alone another 100-200 billion other galaxies is approximately NIL.

The problem with the Drake Equation is that the Drake equation is patently incorrect. For example, the equation assumes that life, intelligence, and civilization can only evolve in a given solar system once. This is manifestly untrue. Stars evolve on time scales of billions of years, species over millions of years, and civilizations take mere thousands of years.

I saw a UFO the other day while driving along Porthcawl seafront in the XK convertible with the roof down, when some jealous Neanderthal drinking outside The Waterfront Hotel sent his pint hurtling towards me but he missed, so I wasn't able to identify whether the flying object was lager, bitter or cider. The prices that they charge in The Waterfront Hotel suggested to me that he could have been an alien from another planet with more money than sense.

Whos to say some wildlife is not from another planet?

So much of our seas and oceans are also undiscovered, could alien life be there?

UFO yes of course, any air craft you can't identify is a UFO. Doesn't mean it's of extra terrestrial origin

Do I believe in extra terrestrial life? Yes I do, I don't believe we are alone in the universe, especially when there is so much unexplored

"They are avoiding us having seen what we would be likely to do to them based on all the scifi movies and TV shows of the last 100+ years "

I don’t see why anything possessing technology capable of interstellar travel would need to fear us.

Pretty sure “UFO sightings” are drones or advanced aircraft, though. I don’t believe that’s what alien tech would look like. It would need to disprove our understanding of physics.

"One of my mates saw UFO once at Hammersmith odeon...."

beat me to it

personally ive believed for a long time that if evolution is a basic universal façt of life on our planet, then why not across the whole universe..

ergo, it's possible that we are the early protozoa of universal evolution and pretty much on our own, or as good as it's got or an odd platypus branch,

point is, there's no way of knowing where we fit in 'universal evolution' until we have something to compare to.

Ufo's ? I'm sceptical. seems a long way to come just to twat about probing idaho farmers and buzzing twa flights

sooner we ( and by we i mean the relly clever science people) figure out how to Be the ufos the sooner we'll know

x

Whenever people have captured UFOs on film it’s been explain away as an illusion or photo/video editing which is really easy to do

In a former job, I got to meet a lot of former police, army and navy people. A lot of them told me about strange things which they couldn't explain and they described as ufos.

Some cases were witnessed by a group of colleagues. In the cases there was a superior present, they ordered not to talk about it. Some chose not to talk about the incident for years.
