Thought I’d start a topic and get some convo going, happy to natter in all honesty.

So what else floats our boats?

Cars, hobbies, collections?

I collect, restore and sell old toys, mainly old dinky and corgi etc, have made a few quid off it over the years.

Also just bought a car, 91 merc E class in polizei livery, gets a few looks and great fun, complete with siren and blue lights.

I'm a massive car enthusiast.

I love working on them and I'm passionate about cleaning the things. I did run my own detailing company for a while and I wasn't unusual for me to spend 5 days+ polishing and coating cars for people.

I've also been a musician since I was 6 and build my own guitars and effects pedals.

I’ve always wanted to play the guitar, got long fingers but can’t use them for too long as pain sets in.

Talking of cleaning cars, I’ve got the sunroof seal of the merc in the washing machine at the min, trying to soften it up as a new one is £200.

Silicone grease for rubber. However, if it's dried out too much the only solution is a new one. Treating your rubber and plastics with something like CarPro Perl on a regular basis keeps them in good order for much longer.

It’s not too bad to be honest, scrubbed it before and still soft, gonna soak it in silicone and see what happens, nothing to lose.

Found 2 being broken for parts locally so fingers crossed.

Never liked horses, scary things. Remind me of the alien from the James Cameron films.

The paint will be heavily contaminated in that case and a very deep clean and decon will be needed.

If you can, get the wheels off and the car on axle stands.

Pre-wash with an alkaline snow foam mixed with a little APC.

Two bucket wash.

Tar & glue remover, fallout remover then clay bar.

Wash the car again.

Clean exterior plastics and wheel arches with an APC solution.

Do you have access to or know how to machine compound and polish?

Won’t be doing that anytime soon, it’s a project to be fair, the boot lid and bonnet are getting repainted in German police green(oddly enough a rover group colour), the white corners will be getting blown in after arches tidied and roof may get wrapped. Doors are already wrapped so they are ok.

It’s not bad in all honesty, I work on cars everyday and I know lots of people who can do bits for me but will most likely tackle it myself.

Ah got you, since energy prices went up I setup a solar charge system, use it for phones and tablets etc, rarely use mains power except to shower and wash clothes, usually once to twice a fortnight I throw washing machine on( I live alone so not a big deal).

Have solar lights in the bedroom and solar power banks if need be and I can boost these in the van while working.

My phone and tablet were purchased damaged and repaired by myself and if the kids break there stuff I patch them up.
