It must be pretty hard for her to do this . She seemed she’d never choose to pass on the crown .

I think she's finding it hard to carry out what's expected of her. She's pulling out of more events. Think she's deteriorated quickly since Phillip's death

Law forbids it and the monarchy can't change the law, that's in the hands of Parliament.

Making Charles regent wouldn't make him the king it would make him Prince Regent. The queen would still be monarch, her face would be on the stamps and the ten bob note. He would act in her place
