I’ve been to a fair few concerts recently, and after each one I think it’s the best one yet. Probably as a result of all the lockdowns lol

The Allergies were awesome, Blossoms were brilliant, Foals were fantastic, Paul Weller as good as always, Michael Kiwanuka was out of this world, and I’ve still not come down after seeing Sam Fender last week.

Have you been to any amazing concerts recently?

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I've only been to a couple post-pandemic, none were as good as in "the good old days" tbh. Partly this is Covid related because audiences are a little more reserved (in my experience), but mostly it's the modern gig experience where you pay a fortune, you virtually get strip searched at the door, suddenly it's a seated gig (and that's enforced by security), every twat is filming it on a mobile phone, you can't get to the front because there's some "golden circle" bullshit ticket, anf there's no public transport to get home.

Yes, I still love live music. But all the shit around that gets more and more in the way.

I’ve not noticed the crowd being reserved. In fact more like the opposite. I’ve been standing at most of my recent concerts. The phone thing is very annoying when someone in front of you films virtually the whole concert and blocks your view. Just live in the moment and enjoy it!

Cardiff

Glastonbury 87. I think the weekend ticket was 20 quid (Van Morrison, Elvis Costello, Los Lobos, New Order, Robert Cray, Husker Du, The Mekons, Richard Thompson... and of course about a hundred other acts I mostly missed). I keep thinking the Sugarcubes were there but I saw them a couple of years later in Reading.

A few years ago I saw the original middle-aged Mekons play their clever late 70's punk songs in Oxford Street's 101 Club and they were excellent.

"Going to see The Killers supported by Sam Fender in London tomorrow (Friday)...can't wait "

We saw The Manic Street Preachers & The Killers last Saturday. Both were fantastic!! We should have seen Andrea Bocelli last night in Berlin but it’s been moved again to Oct 2023 so we cancelled our tickets.

I have Alanis Morissette later this month & we have The Proclaimers later in the year

J x

We went to see James a couple of months ago, simply blown away by their energy & crowd interaction. It comes a very close 2nd to their Royal Albert Hall gig.

I missed out seeing Blondie when they came to Hull. Gutted when I saw Johnny Marr was the support. He’s worth seeing as a headline act.
