My point is to work and not to have bank any bank holidays off as a given, ever... is a bit tough.

The needs of the business all that!

I just think a bit of empathy for those that do have to work them is in order.

shits creek

Yes, all 4 days.

Was late for work this morning due to Sunday service buses and the first one not running til 9.23 when I was due to start work at 9.30 Grrrr.

Dreading tomorrow, gonna be a real late finish coz we've got tables booked in all the way to half hour before the kitchen closes, and the last 2 tables are a table of 9 and a 12.

Gonna be stupid late getting out and I'm back on the breakfast shift the next morning.

And for the chap who's aggy at those of us who feel a bit peeved we're working, think about this, I've missed almost every key date with my family for the last 13 years. Having a little consideration to those of us who do miss family/friends time (due to keeping a roof over our heads or those families fed can, at times be really fucking heartbreaking) wouldn't go amiss.

It's generally the same people that work all through Xmas, all through every bank holiday. As much as we don't want other people to miss out, you could have some empathy and appreciate at times it stings like a cunt, especially knowing that when your kids go back to school and all their mates are taking about what fun they had with their families you know your child has the answer "I didn't do anything, my mum was working" makes you, the parent, feel like absolute shit. You feel like you're letting your kids down, praying they won't wonder if you love your job more than you love them, or even if you love them.

I wasn't saying working bank holidays is great

I merely thought the op was being made asking

I've been there and know exactly how you feel. A little gratitude goes along way.

If I was in a financial position to be able to go to the pub/restaurant then I'd be grateful to my server. I have in the past when things were better.

Just get another job where you don't have to work them. There's a ridiculous amount or choice at the moment and it's an employees market right now.

Back to the wanking for me
