"Being happy and successful without a man. Knowing I actually can do it all on my own. (Plus when I get messages of hot guys) " You can do it

"I say"No" more often than I used to. People forget that the word, on it's own, is a sentence. No further explanation, apology of appeasement needed if you don't want to do something." This is a really good one

"I say"No" more often than I used to. People forget that the word, on it's own, is a sentence. No further explanation, apology of appeasement needed if you don't want to do something." I love this, it’s so true!

"I just get on with being me, I don’t need buzzwords to feel better about myself." Is feeling empowered a buzz word

"I don’t think I do anything. I don’t really think deeply about things like this. I just get on with it, I’m just me and I get by. " Is getting by enough?

"To know I’ve survived I’m not as undesirable as I thought - bloody hormones I’m beautiful and I do this shit alone " You’re gorgeous, own that!

"I don’t think I do anything. I don’t really think deeply about things like this. I just get on with it, I’m just me and I get by. Is getting by enough? " As opposed to doing what?

"I don’t think I do anything. I don’t really think deeply about things like this. I just get on with it, I’m just me and I get by. Is getting by enough? As opposed to doing what?" I was just curious about your choice of words I guess.

"I don't do anything. I am empowered I don't assume I'm not " This is more what I meant. I think I always have been so I don’t think about it. I’m just me.

"I think for me, it's being confident in the choices and actions I've taken. Maybe at the time those choices and actions hurt me and others, but, after time, knowing they were the right thing to do for my self worth. Knowing that I value my own self worth and I won't let that go for anyone is empowering " That’s great . Did you cultivate that, or is it something you do naturally?

"Still learning. Mostly to stop apologising for existing and taking up space and that I don't owe anyone femininity or beauty and I'm free to decide what those things are for myself. " YES! I’m with you on that path

"I don't know what it means on an individual basis in all honesty. But in dance class there's a sense of empowering each other. Same as when I did some work the other weekend with school girls. Asking them what does a scientist look like (either Albert Einstein or Doc Brown by the majority) and asking do I look like them? Getting them to ask me questions on how I did it, and how they might do it also. I think empowerment is a bit of a team effort not an individual concept. " That is AWESOME . What an amazing thing to do.

It's something that has grown with time, so yes I'd say I've cultivated it so that now it comes naturally. I'll no longer keep myself in situations or around people that make me feel shit just from fear of change or being alone.

"I have never felt the need to be empowered. I'm just me. I am happy in the person I am. I have never felt like I need or have needed to be empowered,I control my life and what happens in . I've learnt through experiences how to get through some really horrible times and they have made me stronger in myself. I have found quite a few who use that phrase tend to look down on others, and think they are more important than others. I am all for people being confident and happy in themselves but when it starts to lean towards misandry or misogyny it's not something I'm interested in being part of. " That an interesting way to look at it. I’m trying to be more empowered, but not because I think I’m better or more important at all. I think your point about feeling in control is an important one

"I have been in quite a few wars in the last decades. I was always convinced that if women governed the world, this would a better place to live. Testosterone-related behaviours and empowerment are a dangerous combination" There are many wars and atrocities in history under the command of women too.

"Largely I'm just trying to stay afloat but I refuse to let men push me down anymore. I refuse to be told to hush. Or that my voice is too loud or that I'm making a fuss. My voice matters as much as anyone else's does - that empowers me. " Are men actually saying this?

If it's not yours, lucky you. I don't have to give details of every time a man has tried to stifle my words. If you need to know why (some) men do this - you're not paying attention.
