In Scotland or at least Ayrshire we have big flat crumpets as well as little thick ones. I'm assuming thats not the case everywhere

A world all of his own

Toasted until it's almost crisp and then plenty of butter (well, clover). Oddly, I can't conceive of eating them with sweet toppings.

I see the logic. Can be really messy and difficult to eat when the butter seeps through the holes

When I was doing slimming World years ago it was suggested dropping a crumpet in a stew instead of a dumpling. Wasn’t quite the same but kinda worked. Wasn’t awful.

"Butter and a rasher of bacon "

I sometimes have a giant crumpet as part of a full English. Toasted crispy, butter, place the egg on top and let the yoke spread across the top. Finish with bacon and mushrooms.

I've bought and thrown out crumpets untouched the last few weeks.

Now I can't for the life of me remember if I bought more this week, but now I want crumpets, if I go to the kitchen and find I didn't buy them I'll be disappointed.

Doused in butter.
