Near Wellingborough

I donated pet food to the food bank. Being on difficult times doesn't just happen to the pet less. Our 4 legged friends need feeding too

Are you suggesting that when people fall on hard times they should eat their pets?

It seems to work in other cultures. Ah, I forgot, Brexit means Brexit, or something. We're not allowed to borrow bits from other cultures anymore

I used to work in a homeless community centre and one of the things we got asked for most was dog food. We gave food, clothing and toiletries away for free but the amount of people who came in and the first thing they asked for was dog food surprised me

Do you want dogs to get jobs and pay for their own food?

Leeds (Home) / Sheffield (Work)

Once upon a time I would be cynical however I have learnt over the past few years, due to my work, just how important pets are to people. Sometimes closer to people than their family and friends. Sometimes pets are the only thing keeping people from ending their life.

People are abandoning their animals because of the cost of living. I say animals as apposed to pets because people value their pets.

It's sad but as some already mentioned, there are people struggling to feed and look after their pets as let's face it it's not just food but other expenses too. I support local animal charities and know about the issues they are faced with. I also have and have done for long time given to so called pet food banks. Some operate even within vet surgeries where people can leave food and other stuff for animals. I know that if I ever had to choose, I would rather feed my dog than myself.

The cost of pet food has risen quite a bit too. 2 years ago I was buying 2 x 24 cans of cat food for £22 on offer at Pets at home. Now I am paying £30 for it.

It doesn't surprise me at all that Pet food banks are appearing..

I am with you on that. I would rather go without myself, than not feed my pets. Some people however can't do that, because they can't afford food for themselves either.

Agreed and that's why we should all do our bit to help if we can.
