Shingles

Redditch

So I have shingles. No pain. Rash started a week ago. Nhs direct say could last 3 or 4 weeks and some sites say rash should be gone in 2 weeks. Pharmacist says see my gp but is it worth it?

Advice please guys x

Get a GP appointment. It might not be giving you any gip now, but it might. And they can pop it on your notes for future reference too.

Lady at work had it a few months ago, she had to have a few weeks off work. It got into her scalp and neck, she said it was agony.

Ye i keep hearing this. Fortunately at present i just have an itchy rash on my left side ribs and left shoulder blade. Annoying though as this is my week off and had plans but feel a bit grotty.

Ye. I have another condition too that actually partially numbs the side the shingles is on (scoliosis that has meant reduced sensation down my left side) so maybe thats part of it. Pharmacist could be wrong too i guess but all the listed symptoms apart from pain check out

I had shingles on my lower back about 4 years ago, the pain was excruciating for about 3 weeks and it took another 3 weeks for them to dry out.

I subsequently had a one off vaccination to prevent me getting shingles again which should last for I belive a 10 year period.

I had them in my forties and I was lucky that the pain wasn't that bad but then they got infected and that was awful.

The pain is severe as shingles attacks the nerves. See your Dr

Use this time off to truly rest and to address any stress you may be consciously or unconsciously under. When the doctor told me “this could be brought on by stress” I recall almost yelling back “I’m not stressed!” Then having a massive aha moment that I perhaps was from the pressures of my job back then!
