"We are what we are, aren’t we? There are some things we can influence and change .. some things we can’t If you’re not happy with the things you CAN change, set about changing them If you’re not happy with those things you can’t change, don’t worry about it And embrace what you have at any moment in time. You only live once so make the most of it! " We can change things, but we can embrace the imperfections anyway

"Your daughter is a wise one, clearly she's got a fantastic mum. Honestly, I have imperfections like everyone else. I know that. I'm working on them, trying to better myself but in the meantime, who I am is actually kind of dateable/fuckable. I'm an okay sort of human bean. I can't and won't spend years hating myself and telling myself I can't do anything until I'm x, y and z. Life is too short. Besides, it's more fun when you actually live it." Exactly

"She sounds very wise, you should be trying to not put your negative thoughts on her though depending on her age of course. There may be a time when she needs you and might think she can't talk to you as it will make you feel even worse or perhaps worsen whatever it is your being negative about. Good luck with the new you though. " ? She can talk to me about ANYTHING

"I can't imagine ever being able to say or think that I'm amazing. I am trying positive affirmations though because I don't want to be that negative around my kids or for my own sake. I'm skeptical but worth a try!" Our children need to see us in all shades

"My imperfections are part of my ambitions and motivations, at times they are the catalysts for my drive to want more of myself ... it's my way of embracing my imperfections. For me the most important thing is to find a perfect balance and not let those imperfections get the best of me."

"Imperfections My daughter is just the most fabulous human being. I’m saying things like ‘I can’t date’ etc etc and then she says ….. embrace your imperfections mum, they make you even more wonderful. It’s hard though - right? She’s right - we look and criticise ourselves way too much, when we should be saying ‘hell yes, I’m imperfect, but I’m fucking amazing anyway. " Damn right!! I'm amazing at fucking imperfectly

"Your daughter sounds very wise, and very grounded. And she's right. Us 'grown ups' should embrace the sum total of who we are, good, bad and indifferent. It's not worth our while to let our imperfections disturb us always. Henry David Thoreau " I embrace the craziness of my brain and the fullness of my heart

"My thoughts Floro are that you educated and nurtured your daughter in the way that you saw corect and how you would like her to feel. However you still hold the negative attitude that you were probably raised by. That there is a 'perfect image' we should all aim for. Which is why you keep coming back to 'your imperfections'? This is just a general thought about us all as adults really. I know I do this very thing myself with my own children. Encouraging them to embrace their feelings even the negative ones. But me.. I struggle to listen to my own encouragement!! Jo.Xx " I didn’t have any one tell me I had to be perfect when I was younger … I was more or less on my own, probably why I have those negative thoughts

"I don't know why anyone would be talking down about themselves with their children " Sometimes it's useful to point out your own faults to your children in the hope that maybe they can avoid them, if they're actions; or mitigate them if they are genetic.

" I actually show her that’s it’s perfectly normal to have those feelings and to never keep them to herself. I think it’s worked - she’s pretty fabulous

"I don't think the word 'imperfect' should be used in connection with human beings. It implies that perfection in a human exists ...it doesn't" I like the thinking around that
