Fears…

What are you afraid of?

Athena - spiders… except the little money spider types!

Heathen - falling from height (not the same as fear of height)… oh and horses! Can’t stand em! Big stinky bitey skull kicking creatures!

So, what makes you squeals and squeamish?

Currently I am afraid of the eye surgery I need to have. Apart from that the 'normal' fears of my loved ones being harmed etc which don't occupy my mind regularly

I’m never d*unk when I start a thread and normally get myself into hot water… every time I start typing away Athena looks at me and says “if you get us fucking banned again I will fist you!”

Then I do and then I run away

Ahh, yes, eye things are very fear inducing! I think that’s why they get included in horror movies so much!

Best of luck with your surgery though, I’m sure all on the forums will be hoping everything goes great for you!

Its all Michael Millidge's fault, when we we're 6 he told me they burrow into you ear, lay eggs and when they hatch they eat there way into your brain!! I still remember that after all these years and still freak out when I see them

Sharks are my favourite animal to dive with. I've just got back from the Bahamas diving with oceanic white tips and 4 metre Tiger sharks. I can confirm that their skin feels a little like sandpaper

I, Heathen, love sharks and am going shark diving this year (only in an aquarium at first because Athena hates the idea, but bought the dive tickets ) so if I “survive” that I think I’ll be able to nudge her into letting me do it properly! Ultimate trip - diving with Great Whites!

The main fear I have is when sailing, that I fall in and drown as I am not a strong swimmer. Even though I have a life jacket on, I can't convince myself to enjoy the sailing.

"Moths and daddy long legs !"

Athena once gave me a near heart attack at four in the morning because of a bastard moth, I’m nicely snoring away and then she’s screaming my name! I thought someone had broken in! Jumped out of the bed ready for the fight of my life and it turns out it was a fucking moth no wonder I have white hairs in my beard!

The ocean is the biggest and strongest force on the planet so that fear is very well founded!

They do that at Hull I think? As you say, not the same as in the sea, but you can still see that the sharks are not mindless killers, but actually slightly nervous and inquisitive

Great Whites are...different. other than in a cage you probably don't want to be swimming with those. They have an attitude. Stand in the path of a Tiger shark and it will go round you. Stand in the path of a Great White and it will go through you.

Ultimately I’d love to free dive with GWs maybe I’m nuts lol

Didn’t know they did it in Hull may have to check that out, the one we booked was Skegness, we got up that way a lot so nice and easy to fit into a visit!

They used to do it at the deep, but I just had a look and it's not listed any more

I've dived with hammerheads, Tigers, Oceanic and several types of reef shark. Nurse sharks are fun to dive with, I had 3 sit on me a couple of years ago A few videos on my YouTube page but I don't think fab allows me to post links. Still, sharks really are amazing to dive with.
