Let's introduce some regional competitveness. So, which town/city/region has the best socials?

What's the furthest you've travelled to a group social and what made you go for it?

Manchester (he/him)

I’ve been to Manchester and Birmingham.

It’s not just about the size, it’s about organisation and how you’re treated when you’re there. Did the organisers welcome you, were you looked after, how big was the event, etc.

Some events are so large that it’s impossible to look after newbies, so maybe smaller events might be better for them.

It’s all relative to what a person wants and needs!

There are several in London which are very well ran but for smaller groups

I will add that all of the ones that I’ve attended have been very good and enjoyable

Glasgowish

I go to the Glasgow and Edinburgh socials but recently went the Manchester social which was so good I am going to the next one. All the socials are enjoyable and the perfect way to meet new people.

UpTheBrum in Birmingham.

They put so much effort in and do it all a little bit differently.

They are even having a social on a party boat in June!

Not too sure tbh.

It's a smaller event though by the look of it, with up to about 35 people, so could be really nice.

Aberdeen, Manchester and Upthebrum...all quite different but love them all. Aberdeen ones are much smaller as we're in the middle of no where you do get to blether more though! All of them put in loads of effort to make you feel welcome and make sure you have a great night!

Should probably try to go to more Scottish ones as logistically it would be much quicker to get there and easier

I enjoyed Lincoln social, it was very friendly and well organised by great hosts.

We've met the Leeds Social hosts and are very much looking forward to attending the event soon. Also hoping to get to an Unseen Lounge event when diaries and logistics allow.

I'd recommend getting in the chat room, having a natter and get to know people.

Then you never feel so alone. You can even meet some before and go in together.

They also have a presocial the night before, which is limited to a much smaller crowd and targeted more towards newbies to the social.
