We don't use kik I'm afraid.

But that would be a really cunning way to get people to message.....

I'm amazed nobody's ever thought of it before.

Kik is notoriously glitchy. You can try logging out/back in. You'll also lose any current conversations you've got though. Failing that it's a case of delete and reinstall. You're better of switching to say telegram or similar

I have exactly the same problem with it so I know it’s a genuine problem with the app at the moment and there’s nothing in the options or settings to resolve it. There’s nothing on Google about how to fix it either. It’s really annoying so I can understand why OP is asking for help…..I can also understand why you’re suspicious of his intentions because it does look like a ploy to get people to message him but I think this is one of the rare times when someone on here is being genuine.

I always delete it and reinstall as I don’t like having it on my phone but the problem persists each time.

It definitely seems to be an upgrade issue, check that you haven't got an update waiting on your app.

If you google lots of people had the same problem, after updating it is working fine for them. I just wish there was a way to block all the spam 20-year old chat bits trying to send me nudes.

Kik used to be ok, now it's full of adverts and glitches all the time. It's also full of stupid bots. Telegram is much better.

I’ve just reinstalled the app on my phone and when I logged in a box popped up asking me if I want to accept new chats from people I don’t know. I selected yes and can now see new chats so the problem seems to be resolved.

A few people have said that, are there public groups like there are on kick? I tried telegram once and there seemed to be even more bots…everyone I spoke to was trying to get me to buy crypto currency for some reason

Yep, I had exactly the same issue re getting a message and not being able to view it unless adding that person. Have deleted Kik and reinstalled a couple of times and now seems to working ok.
