What do people thinking about editing/retouching pics?

I never usually edit my pics, except for artsy black and white filters, cropping out floordrobes and putting stickers on my no-no bits because I believe in putting yourself out there as you are. Buuuuuttt (and it's a big butt) I just took a butt pic that I'm really feeling, apart from some discolouration I've spotted on my inner thigh that's really bothering me. I'm out of the lingerie now and I don't think I can get that exact angle again... Not gonna lie the urge to install a photo editing app and blur those bits out is strong.

Is it cheating if it's just smoothing out skin tone?

I’m not against editing so long as it doesn’t alter or distort the image too much. It’s good to be honest regarding the picture but ultimately insecurities are insecurities

I can tell when pics are over-smoothed to the point of misrepresentation.

As long as you don't go beyond what you *could* look like, then I think you'll be OK.

I've never used filters, but I have used contrast, sharpness, saturation, and what you might call "traditional" photo processing...which is probably just as "dishonest" on some level.

No I wouldn't say so. You're not altering your shape or size, thigh discolouration can really bring out the meh. Edit away if it makes you feel happy enough to post the photo.

If the images are more accurate than not there’s no problem. Especially if you’ve got others on show.

I edit pics to add makeup if I take a good photo when I’m not wearing any, I don’t change other stuff, just add mascara, sometimes pale lipstick etc

I use blur alot to get rid of identifying marks like tats/scars. Just helps us feel secure in anonymity. And also, totally feel ya when you've had that oerfect angle. It's alot of effort to go to so yeah a little retouch never hurt anyone. Remember this is your journey and your profile. It has to work for you before it needs to work for anyone else xxx

Yeah I feel like my whole vibe is being an unapologetic plus sized gal on a self love journey, so editing would probably not fit in with all that anyway (and totally not the fact that I just tried to use an editing tool and basically made my butt look like blurry play-doh)

Like others above me have said, you're not changing the shape or distorting the image so you should be golden. Touching it up (hehe touching) is about the same as using filters, or contrast, or other things.

I've felt bad in the past using certain angles or lighting because it definitely feels like I'm catfishing people

It's a butt. A very fine picture, and I'd not want to attempt to recreate it if I were you.

I can see what you're referring to, but if you'd not mentioned it I'd have assumed it was a shadow or the like, I certainly wouldn't have noticed without looking.

I don't agree with changing pictures so they're inaccurate in a major way, but something like that I wouldn't think twice about if it made me uncomfortable.

There's a line but each person has to decide for themselves where it is.

I can't see what you wanted to change, but I will say I don't think it would be dishonest. You're not changing anything drastic to not look like you.

I blur my tattoos, but it's noticeable in my photos you just can't make out what's under the blur.

have some pics which are heavily edited but still shows glimpses of the real me, and in all honesty I find it makes very little difference since the peeps I meet in person can identify me with pics. in keeping it real.

not once have I been rejected because of my not appearing to be like in my pics.

always a first time for everything, but if & when it happens I’ll not be phased by it, since all down to choice...

Thankfully, only the once have I had to walk away from a meeting due to a guy having portrayed himself in his profile/pics which resembled nothing like him in person...

Filters yes. I like black and white. I like al sorts of borders and vignette. I like soft lighting and harsh contrast. It makes the subject look good.

Angles? Mmmm. If you’re trying to show something different to how it is, sure, it looks good but when I finaly see it and it’s not the same, I’m going to be surprised which might include disappointment. I’m looking at you McDonald’s Resteraunts. Have at least one or two that show the true you without filters maybe. That’s also a nice surprise amongst all the edits. Mix it up.

I see no harm as long as you have other pictures that are true likeness ones. Not all pictures are posted just to get you laid.

So many profiles are made up rubbish, then why not pictures too. After all, how many professional people in search of likeminded people that are experts in one form of sex or another can you get on one website?

We all have parts of our bodies that we either dislike or have insecurities about.

It's easy to be more aware of one's supposed flaws and imperfections than others are and to make a bigger deal of them than they are in actuality.

Your much self conscious of it and more critical of yourself than you need to be.

It's a classy pic of a lovely bum.

I do like to play around with filters and hues for ~aesthetic~ purposes but I also like to have some realistic representation of what you're gonna get

And yes I agree, it's like when I think the whole world is focusing on the hormonal acne under my chin, but in reality the fact I've layered 10 different foundations and concealers over it probably makes it stand out more

Yeah, we live in our skin for 24hrs each day and as it's only natural that we compare ourselves to others we tend to think so much about what we perceive as being imperfections that they become insecurities. Even if other people don't even notice them.

I don’t think blurring/smoothing is a bad thing, it’s it changing your basic size and shape, I crop pics and change the lighting and colour effects sometimes and don’t think it’s misrepresentation. I think that using certain types of filters on face pics to basically change what you look like certainly is though and if the photos that are posted are old and no longer look like you then that’s a bit shady too.

I edit my photos but not too much that it’s a totally unrecognisable image of myself. However my videos I don’t touch at all, that’s what I look like.

Certainly anyone who’s met me, have never complained that I don’t look like my pictures.

You see it a lot on dating apps, the removing of wrinkles / blurring is quite funny. So these are easily swiped left as you know they’ll never look like their photos, so why waste time meeting them.

What you're describing is natural and I don't think you should airbrush it away. I like to be quite upfront about my skin texture as it doesn't show in some photos so some people could expect clear smooth skin if they met me but that's not the reality. Is it dishonest that you're lightening and smoothing? I'd say a little bit yes if that doesn't reflect the reality.

I don't think any of us look the exact same as our photos and you should always expect a slight difference once movement, expressions etc are involved... I would say that as long as you could put that picture side by side and it still resembles you then I'd say that's an honest representation.

I just hate seeing super smooth and bright skin everywhere. I see so many friends airbrush themselves to the point they look unreal and it's makes me sad, but I totally get why people do it.

I understand the reasons for both sides. For fun I think people should be able to do what they want as long as they’re not hurting anyone else. If it makes you feel better or more comfortable to post a pic then why not?

When it comes to social media etc however, it can send the wrong impression, depending on who will see it. I.e the young impressionable youth...

I’m sure there are loads of other reasons too!

I do like those tik toks and YT shorts lately where make up artists zoom into their skin under natural lighting and show all the texture in an attempt to normalise it. Can't tell you the amount of money I've wasted on skin blurring primers/mattifying foundations/setting powders etc trying to replicate a look that is faked with ring lights and post-editing

Editing out some small marks is not the same as catfishing which is what your describing. Most of the time, no one is going to see those parts unless they get naked with the person anyway. People above have said they do it for tattoos etc so are they all cat fishing too?

OP, personally I don't see anything wrong with removing a mark here or there. I've done it myself. I can't see the mark your referring to but great bum!

Hmm… seems like a thin line and a slippery slope to me. You either look like your pic or you don’t. Obviously in your opinion “honesty” is a sliding scale where as long as you only edit a few marks it’s still honest enough

That’s not for me. In OPs example if I saw discolouration on the inner thighs in a pic it wouldn’t both mr at all

If I didn’t see it in the pic and we hooked and it was there? That would bother me. Because I feel I’ve been lied to, deceived. You’ve purposely edited a picture.

That’s just me though, I might be overly picky about being mislead

not once have I been rejected because of my not appearing to be like in my pics.

always a first time for everything, but if & when it happens I’ll not be phased by it, since all down to choice...

Thankfully, only the once have I had to walk away from a meeting due to a guy having portrayed himself in his profile/pics which resembled nothing like him in person...

Yeah I think I just prefer to lay it all out there so no one is disappointed and/or can accuse me of fatfishing
