The bits of skin next to your nails

Got into a real bad habit lately of picking those bits of skin next to my nails that peel naturally (pulling not biting because bacteria). I hate it so much, it's gross and I always have at least one finger that's sore and/or a bit bloody. Does anyone have any tips to make it stop??

Just cut them with nail clippers

Burnleyish (She/They)

Cuticle oil or cream every night before bed will soften the skin and stop them occuring.

I used to get them really badly and I added that into my nighttime routine and I hardly get them at all now

Worthing

That can get extremly painful if it gets infected (Whitlow). My mates mum had it. Just cross your arms if the urge gets to you.

I've tried this, I just end up picking at the skin until it starts coming off again. It's more of a compulsion at this point.

Whether you pick or bite is irrelevant - can still get infected!!!

My fingers are in bits because of this and I chew mine. I try to divert the habit elsewhere, the only thing that helps to reset my obsessiveness is taking very good care of my nails.
