"Thanks Doc. We wouldn't rush into anything, and we wouldn't meet just for the sake of it. Its just a question of where to start again." Well the first option is to meet up with old friends in the scene socially and take it from there. I am enjoying chatting to old and new friends and not rushing things its more fun that way.

"We are always dipping back in and out, have only just started playing again ourselves after being out for just over a year. When we come back after a break we tend to take our time and often start by catching up some friends. x" Very good advice and maybe just a few socials but take it at your own pace x

"Sorry to read about all your trials.. Life throws us some bad things at times.. Is it not possible to meet someone you are familiar with just to get going again. " That is one option we have thought of. We didn't know whether to start with a clean slate, maybe new faces, new places, or tread familiar ground.

"There was a thread similar to this a week or so ago, about having a break from swinging and starting again. So here goes. We haven't played in around 18 months/2 years. The reasons were, I was ill and was having a bit of a rough ride, a close family member (a child) was admitted to hospital and luckily pulled through, about a week later a family friend was killed in a road accident and she was closer to us than our parents. Add to that a lot of family changes. Such is life. Obviously with all this happening over the space of a year or so (we are currently in the process of losing another close family member to cancer as well) we haven't been in any mood or.position to want to play. But we are both starting to feel a little urge to dip our toe in again. The strange thing is, we both feel like we haven't done anything like this before and we are both a little anxious about starting again. So what do we do? Jump in with both feet and try to carry on as if nothing has happened? Dip our toes in and hope for the best? Stop swinging/dogging? Any advice would be gratefully received from anyone who has experienced similar " Taking things slowly and meeting people who are sensitive to your needs and not pushy. Maybe have a few social meets and see?

"It's a possibility that we may dip our toes in this weekend. Just depends on who and what we decide to do. Just going to go at a steady pace." The decision to dip a toe is just the beginning. Good luck.

"So, we have finally made a start on getting back into the saddle. Yesterday we did something that we have wanted to do for years and Mrs Artful had some professional photos done (another thing ticked off the list) and we have joined a club which we will be visiting pretty soon. Thanks for all the feedback and advice folks " Good for you xx

"Brilliant! If the professional shoot is anything like the one I had, Mrs Artful will be feeling a million dollars, and you'll also feel the benefit of that, Artful Good luck and enjoy!" She was really nervous but eventually relaxed and she really enjoyed it. Just put a couple on our profile to update it, I'm really proud of her Just working up the courage and sorting some time out to do the club now.
