A good point at least they are actually doing something pro-active. Sadly there are many out there who say they are getting tested and find something else to do rather than follow through.

Oh its not that that's pissing me off, well done for going having yourself tested, especially on national televison!

Its some of their attitudes that piss me off e.g. one guy bragged that he shagged 4 girls whilst he was awaiting the results of an HIV test or one girl who openly stated to her parents that she always did unprotected sex with strangers on nights out because "it feels better"!!

And yes, the 1000s more who don't get checked are more worrying lol.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I only watch this when I see a thread - I keep forgetting it's a series and not a one off. It's becoming a bit of a guilty secret.

I just hope young people are watching and that some of the, perhaps too subtle, sexual health education gets through.

There are people even on here who apparently play while waiting for results and even worse don't tell people after the fact they could have been at risk. I am always astounded at the lack of social responsibility and the lack of care and concern some have for the people they fuck.

I'm a regular attendee at the local STI clinic and often see the same faces, most of whom are half my age.

Almost without exception they treat the business of being told they're 'all clear' as an unconditional licence to continue as before.

If somebody is sleeping around and having unprotected sex should be given at least 30 years in prison there was a guy in the uk some years back who was sleeping around and he was put in prison for passing HIV to girls.

"If somebody is sleeping around and having unprotected sex should be given at least 30 years in prison there was a guy in the uk some years back who was sleeping around and he was put in prison for passing HIV to girls."

Would you define 'unprotected sex' please?

Because 'sex' by definition can, of course, include oral - so if you're going to lock everyone up who has had unprotected oral Im guessing about 95% of this site needs to line up outside the gates of Wandsworth.

Gotta love knee-jerk, high-horse attitudes.

Its _iews like this that cause other people to lie about their sexual practices on this and other sites.

Sad part is, Lickety, that 'young people' won't get the point the programme is making, and probably only see the characters as sort-of role models...

How do you define sleeping around. I've had lots of unprotected oral. And loads of bb over the years. Yet still currently have not caught a thing.

So should I be locked away.

Lock all of you away? Can't see how that would be punishment? You'd be far too busy having more bb fun I imagine lol

On a serious note, each to there own. So long as those partaking are upfront about it other parties know the risks and are all consenting adults. It's when people hide it and lie that unwelcome surprises pop up.

And even if these people are taking it as green light to carry on at least they are getting checked, maybe the message to these young ones will sink in eventually?

The majority of those going are attending because they are worried about their, and/or their partner(s), health and want to be checked to make sure they are not infected or carrying something. Those people I am fine, if not impressed, with for doing this e.g. the girl who went because she thought she might be pregnant and thought she may have caught an STI too.

Its that small minority (as there always is in society) that pisses me off e.g. last night's episode featured 2 guys who work in the porn industry, but hadn't tested themselves for over a year.

Irresponsible and unfair to people they played with although I thought porn stars needed an up to date cert when they turn up for filming.

I thought so too, but that's what the 2 blokes said.

The one guy's results came back clean and was allowed to perform in a bb gay film, but the other one tested positive for chlamydia and gonorrhoea and was banned from films till he tested negative.

"i think the 2 gay boys working in the "porn industry" and not getting checked often was very shocking"

theres loads of people who go years without getting tested

yeah sure when a STI thread comes up on here people pop up and say they get tested regular and im sure they do but for everyone who does i bet there a 100 on here who dont

I met a guy who said he had never been tested in bhis life and he was in his 30s, he said till he thinks he has a problem he sees no point

some people dont realise not all STI show visible symptoms so while everything looks ok they think it is ok

Only just caught up with this on i-player.

The attitude of the 2 gay guys didn't surprise me at all (used to work with one or two with exactly the same) but it was the 'director' of the movie right at the start of the show who's knowledge/attitude (now sure which it was) astonished me! As far as I know, anyone appearing in a 'mainstream' porn movie has to have a 30-day certificate to prove they are negative (i.e tested AND confirmed clear within the 30 days previous to the shoot) or they don't get on the set. The 'director' didn't even mention that at all. He just gave the impression that it was 'in their interests' to get checked regularly - not that it was an industry requirement. Really worrying if he's going around making porn and isn't asking for proof....

BUT..... the thing in 'Unsafe' which nearly had me throwing a brick through me laptop was the 19 yr old girl, in a relationship, who thought that 'trust' was a better contraceptive than the pill or a condom....

Guess what??? She's preggers - now ain't that a thang.....??????

Well 'luv', how about, instead of all us nice folk payin our taxes an' stuff, we all 'trust' that by some strange miracle you'll find the money to bring up your kid without us having to bail you out!!!!!

Apologies all, for a non-Thursday rant...... think it must be all the talk of that famous right-winger, Mr Romney, on another thread this morning.... gets ones dander up......
