Somewhere In The Ether…

I was (and still am) listening to the wealth of beautiful birdsong outside today.

So good folks: What is your favourite bird (of the ornithological variety) and which is your favourite birdsong?

My personal favourite is the Robin although the rich song of the Blackbird is my choice for song accolade

(Do I get any bonus points for the delightful innocence of this thread?)

I do like watching a wagtail, wagging its tail. Strangely addictive!

Still awaiting the first cuckoo this year .. not heard it since last year.

I sadly haven’t heard a Cuckoo for years

We get every other member of the crow family here however barring Jays which I’ve only ever seen a few times in my life in other areas.

I too love the Robin and Blackbird. The Wren has a lovely little trilling song I hear daily.

Blackbird song on a summer's evening reminds me of my mum.

I had a yellow wagtail land in my garden for a drink once.

The repeating, rich song of the Song Thrush is another favourite of mine.

Curiously though; I have NEVER seen a pair of them, rather they always appear singularly in my garden.

Blackbirds I like, such characters! Always have a soft spot for finches though, goldies or bullies are probably my favourite.

We had one visit our garden regular a few years back, quite unusual to see. They don't usually go far from running water!

I like the finches, you can hear them chatting to each other from different trees and rooftops.

The crows, not so much! They're just noisy feckers.

Love a robin, but we also get the odd goldfinch in the garden which sounds beautiful.

Maybe it's too busy singing in Berkley Square?
