Can you imagine the uproar if there was no one doing the minimum wage jobs?

The people in power would realise pretty fucking quickly how much they rely on them. (Although lockdowns should have achieved that. And well )

It's a hard one. I work full time can't do more than that, but I literally have a tenner a week left over once all my bills are paid and I have cut everything back to a minimum. Never ever thought I'd be living like this.but I know there are millions probably in the same situation.

Better off in work. Is the motto to all those on universal credit. All those on it, those on it and working, and probably the majority of those not on it and just working. Are struggling and in povivity. As a first world country, we shouldnt have to live like this. Do we heat or eat? Everyweek I see 5p here 10p there on food items. On the overal shop it probably adds £15 to my family bill.

Personally, I just think it's sad at my age that friends and family have to watch their pennies. In addition, chosing between eating and heating.

Worthing

Look for the cheaper misshapen fruit and veg. Good start to cut costs. Also a few simple, healthy, cheap, home cooked meals. Rice, potatoes, chicken, peas, sauce (curry or sweet n sour). I am having that later. Get a microwave steamer for rice and veg.

Its a struggle for most. I earn pretty good money and dont believe i would be entitled to any help from the government. But i have noticed the pinch. Gas and electric costs alone are killing me and apparently these will rise again in the autumn.

But i have my health and a smile on my face still, so it could be much much worse

It certainly seems that way OP! Not to be all doom and gloom, but doesn't seem as though will get much better over next few years.

We have decided to stop buying "treats" and bake/make our own. We're quite lucky that I'm able to acquire and process my own meat products which helps massively.

I can’t pinpoint which food items have gone up so much to warrant the extra in shopping bills but ours is quite a lot. Although, the price of crisps is scandalous!

We were already overpaying a lot on gas/elec so thank goodness that hasn’t increased! It’s stabilised!

I've noticed quite a few things have gone up in the supermarket. Lots of the offers like two for £5 ect are now 2 for £6. Or I noticed in Iceland they used to do 4 for £10 on some of the frozen food it's now 3 for £10

some things not even very little either. I was in morrisons today and picked up the normal pre cooked meats I do. They are normally 2 for £4. In fact they are labeled on the packets at that. But on the shelf it now reads 2 for £4.50. They scanned through at the higher price but as on the actual packets it said £4 ,they did then honor that price.

Then sent someone to remove the ones with the older price on

Thank you for pointing this out. I have been on sim only deals for a long period of time and I refused to go on mobile phone contracts for me and my daughter.

The question we have to ask ourselves is, do we want or need? We all like to have the latest gagits or updates (needs), but do we really use or need them? I know I don't and when I do upgrade my phone, I always look on ebay and get it cheaper.(want)

We've been through a long period of historic low inflation and interest rates and an adjustment was always on the cards. Unfortunately lockdowns and Ukraine have made this quicker and harder.
