It's an unwritten law, surely, though it seems fashionable these days to forego the belt altogether

I buy black belts and black shoes but there is no consideration for matching them - it's just the way it is

"Who notices these things??"

I do.

I was on a train this morning and a guy was wearing a really attractive dark blue suit, but he had brown shoes and a black belt. It just didn’t look right, in my opinion.

His watch strap matched his shoes though, so I have him a reach around

It all depends on the person and the clothes they are wearing.

Fashion is personal taste and if you do it right, anything can work.

I only have one belt, it’s brown.

It goes with everything.

The last person that tried to tell me otherwise was told to ‘fuck right off’.

Didn’t go down too well, it was at the reception after a funeral, they had also commented on my black jeans not ‘being appropriate’.

Reply privatelyReply in forumReply +quote

Since most of my clothes are either blue, black or green it's a mute point, black or brown works, I just pick up the first belt that comes to hand.

(If she enjoys it then that's always a bonus) (j/k)
