i remember having a conversation a number of years ago with a married male neighbour of mine who was cutting the lawn.we chatting about a new neighbour who had just moved into the street opposite and was a single parent.this lady had struggled with shopping and had been tackling an overgrown garden on her own.the man i was chatting to said he would offer to help the lady but hes mrs woudnt be suited.so am asking do men who have a partner feel they darent or cant offer help to a female neighbour who is single and needs help? Or would you not want to? And what if the neighbour asked you to help? What would you do?even if it was all innocent.

I used to help a neighbour with her garden as have a ride on mower, my partner at the time was the one desperate to try getting her into bed. Luckily nothing happened and she is still a friend even after the ex has gone.

If I had a partner and my neighbour needed some help in that situation, I’d try and help in anyway I could.

Here occasionally, but mostly somewhere else

I can't imagine getting together with someone that possessive and inconsiderate.

Yes I would be the same. It is good to be able to help people.

If my partner said I couldn’t help a single neighbour, then they aren’t for me.

Lawn mowing is a euphemism for fucking like rabbits. No wonder his poor wife is concerned.

I wouldn’t have a issue with my husband helping anyone.Maybe theirs reasons you don’t know about as to why the wife wouldn’t be happy with it .

Of course I’d help. And my then mrs would help too.

And if my future mrs has a problem with it, tough. I’m not gonna see someone struggle, unless I don’t like them.

East Sussex

We had a single woman living next door at our last house. She was a bit older than us, used to send round gifts for Mr N . It used to make us laugh. She never asked him to mow her lawn though

Wirral.

Are folk really that possessive?

Does the stereotype of the single woman being a sex mad femme fatale after everyone's husband still exist?

I clearly does in some peoples minds.

Now, how about I come round and trim your bush.

Or trim her bush.

Or water her clematis.

It's nice to help where you can. Good for everyones mental health.

Might be different if she came on to me....

Alicante, Spain. (Sometimes in Wales)

If she was a friend, yes.

If she wasn’t a friend, probably not.

But I am friends with my neighbours. One of them is coming around to plough my field this week. (Not a euphemism!).

Surely you'd both help her, one could mow the lawn, the other could have a cuppa and a chat.
