What!!! I take my son every few weeks to see something, not always in the first week of release but we normally pay about £12 to £15 for both of us! And sometimes that's the premium seats

I refuse to pay for cinema popcorn though so we take our own in from the supermarket

I intend to see Maverick at the Cinema when it’s released. Will look at the prices though as my local cinema is quite expensive. It’s walking distance from where I live, but it maybe cheaper to drive to the next town in which they have some great deals.

Also due to my working hours I can see it in the afternoon….even sneak in to the old peoples screening as you get tea and biscuits

Meerkat movies is your friend if you can go Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Just buy yourself a one day travel insurance policy for a couple of quid, get the BOGOFs for a year

We don’t even pay that in London

I can get an adult and a child ticket for Odean Leicester Square £20 total and that’s release date for a new film. An adult on their own is £17.00

Local cinema just outside centre is £12 an adult ticket.

Monthly pass it’s called MYLIMITLESS

14.99 a month and can go watch as meny moves as you like in the month

Only thing is it’s a 3 month period

But if £19 a ticket

You only need to use it 3 times in three months and your already saveing

You definitely cannot get the same in the odeon. Search Everyman cinema’s. Very different brand. More luxurious.

I don't even qualify for CEA card that gets you a free carer tickets because I don't claim any benefits.

Yeah I’m not into leather. Much prefer a big soft velvet couch, cushions. foot rest, pizza and wine and hot chocolate bought to my seat, ordering from my seat, hardly any kids or noisy people, having early access to films, live talks from the directors etc.

That’s why in my original post I was saying it’s not about saving money, it’s about the experience (for me).

Only if I can get to a recliner chair without going up/down steps, AND you can't just sit where you like. They sell the other seats either side of the wheelchair place (cos there's usually only 1) if a carer's ticket hasn't been issued. It means on occasion, I have paid for my daughter to have a ticket too, but she sits on my knee, in the wheelchair, because someone has purchased the seat next to the wheelchair space and my 5yo is sitting a row behind me on her own in the dark.

I'm not going to apologise for the fact that the cinema had to move a solitary seat to let people like me in.

Also if I move out of my chair, I need to put my chair somewhere and it needs to be next to my seat so I can transfer easily if I need to go out to the loo etc.

I have friends who are completely reliant on their wheelchair, they cannot move into any other seat.

It's not just cinemas where we pay the same but for a section of fresh air

It's fecking annoying that the wheelchair spaces are always right at the front. I have long sight and it mucks my eyes up to sit so close to the screen. I do resent paying for two tickets for me and my daughter and both of us ending up sat in the wheelchair, because we can't book the carer seat next to the wheelchair space (no CEA card). You physically cannot book a wheelchair space with the seat next to it, unless you provide a CEA number. You have to book online before you go, because most screens have only 1 wheelchair space so you risk trekking to the cinema with your kid and find you can't go in at all.

If others have booked the seat next to the wheel chair space, can you not just do the same on separate transactions to get the same outcome… you shouldn’t have to but hey if it works…

Ok that’s a bit shitty given your eyesight, but in general wheelchair access seats have amazing views at sports stadiums, concerts, arena shows & newer theatres (I know things are changing in some of the older venues but Victorian architecture is a bitch to amend)

At Odeon you don't need a CEA card. We don't have one and always get a free carers ticket.

I kept mine going over lockdown as they suspended the payments anyway but tbh I wouldn't of minded paying it because I know they still had to pay Furlough to their employees. That and I was only a couple of months off having the black card

Two things - you can't book the carer seats online, but they're booked by the box office staff.

Second thing - have you tried to buy a wheelchair space for an arena gig?????? It might have a good view if you're lucky enough to get a spot, but at Manchester Arena, for example, out of 20,000 tickets or more (depending on the event), there's often single digit numbers of wheelchair spaces. And you can't book them online, you have to phone up. AAAAAAAAND some organisations only sell them if you have proof of your disability, which seems to be defined as a benefits letter. I don't have one of those. I have a consultant's diagnosis and a bunch of tests and a blue badge (but that's not what they want). You can't book a ticket for someone to sit next to you without the aforementioned benefits letter either (they call them companion tickets). So, I'd have to sit on my own while others in my party sat or stood elsewhere.

We don't have Odeon in this town, we have to trek into the Big Smoke. And at that one in Manchester, we were asked for a CEA card to book a carer's ticket (I don't have a carer. I just want my 5yo to sit next to me and I don't expect freebies

)

I have netflix and youtube...thats enough for me. It's the price. Like most people cutbacks in spending dictate what I do/buy now.

It's just going up to £5:50 at our local cinema , it was £4:50 before.

Wow! We're moving to you guys! Our local cinema is 14.99 a ticket and we have to travel 40 mins to get anything under a tenner!
