A world of my own

I'm just watching the Rememberence Service, always do and shed a few tears. Good bless those brave souls who have died serving their country and fighting for us, every single one of them from the first who died in 1914 to today!

Some of my strongest childhood memories are of the Rememberance Days in London.

We would all stand and watch the march, then go to an Ex Servicemans club. I had 13 Aunts and Uncles and all the associated family and it was a once a year all get together round the piano sing song a few too many sweet sherries kind of day.

Can still remember the uniforms and medals and feeling of pride and loss even now.

I took part in several Rememberance Day parades in Lincoln whilst in the RAF and even now thirty years later I still can remember the powerful silence of Lincoln cathedral, full to over-flowing as hundreds stood in rememberance of those who died.

My hubby ex sevice as most on here.

Have you ever been to a gathering old troops etc.

they have not seen each of for years, am talking 5-10 years.

They talk just like the had all been out the night before.

Yet today a few gathered in the pub, walked to local cenataph, paid their respects.

What was amazing local youths and the is some nasty ones round here just stood and watched.
