Personally, I try to always be polite and well mannered. I think it’s beholden on us all, especially in an increasingly fractured society. Agree? Disagree?

I believe in reflecting back what's aimed at me , if you come at me nice and politely your get a nice polite guy back. If you choose to come at me spitting fire and vinegar your get a guy spitting fire and vinegar back at you .

I think manners are important. However, I also think they can be used to inappropriately chastise others (see: I said please in my message on Fab, she didn't reply, I'm gonna cry about how rude people are) and try to impose one kind of cultural norm over another.

Manners as courtesy, thinking about how to be better to others around you? Great.

Manners as "you must do what I want, see, I followed the formula! Your formula and your needs don't count!", particularly with a side of "I'm a superior human being because I know what the word please means"... That's welcome to fornicate off from whence it came.

Manners are in place to make life easier so we all know how to behave in certain circumstances. Respect on the other hand is what makes us behave well

Agree, I always try to say thanks to people, from drivers who stop at crossings, shop staff, servers, the postie... Doesn't take much and doesn't cost anything.

Manners cost nothing, and I still hold the doors open, when anyone says thank you, I always say you’re welcome
