Does yours come regularly? Mine comes every Sunday evening but he's late tonight so I'm sitting waiting, watching out the window.

What do you get? I usually get a Mr whippy with raspberry sauce but I feel like I need a treat tonight so I'm going to go crazy and get a sundae.

I live round the corner from the park so I can always walk over there if I really want one. We do occasionally get one come down the street but he's so fast no idea how you'd catch him . For me it's a 99 with sherbet, raspberry sauce and a flake. So good!

Do they still do rounds like they used to in the 80s? I thought they’d died out along with milk floats and paper rounds!

Can't think of a more soul destroying job than being an itinerant ice cream seller rather than having a guaranteed pitch somewhere.

Time and again they play a few bars of their miserable tune and then move on with no takers.

Can't see them lasting much longer with high diesel prices and lower disposable income among the customer base.

Was a an ice-cream man for years, albeit over 30 years ago now,and the profit margin was all in the soft 'Mr Whippy' style from machine..I think abox of actual mix was about £10 then, after adding water and vending (definite knack as well to correctly doing a cone) it was mega bucks profit

Oddly, an ice-cream van jingled it's way down my street today despite the fact it was pissing down with rain. I'm not sure how anyone would have got six feet away following purchase before a soggy cone would be all that was left.

I've actually started to wonder if the van is a front for something else as he only seems to turn up in "none-ice cream friendly" weather!
