No, I can’t say I envisioned this being my life when I was young, I know how I got here of course but it still somehow surprises me that this is where I ended up. As for the future, I can’t say I have any dreams or aspirations, nothing I have any interest in chasing anymore and with far less days ahead of me than there are behind, I’m sure all the best days are passed.

I assumed my marriage would be forever, and I never expected my brother and my sister to die at 29 and 32 respectively. Also I never wanted to be my parents’ default carer.

Apart from that, I’m doing ok…

I had one plan when I moved home from the states, work smarter not harder and buy somewhere cheap and warm on the mainland to retire to.

I'm cruzing to retirement, aiming at 61/63, and work is easy.

Well I’m not an Astronaut. Or a train driver. So no. But it is what it is, I’ve made mistakes, there’s been bad times and there’s been good times! Cant complain really. Except about the weather. It’s just *too* hot now, isn’t it!?

I did and I didn’t. Always envisioned being in love with someone by now. Maybe a child too. A degree. All done.

always thought I’d be teaching which I’m not. But I’m happy about that.

Hopefully I can go and do lots of postgrad stuff but don’t know when. With a family it feels unrealistic to do that any time soon. I try not to think about that though because I get all depressed.

God no thought I’d win the lottery by now plus permanently skint government more tax more National insurance more gas electricity petrol hikes

Need a revolution to sort this out a lot of people on breadline and this government does fuck all to help

No, i never really envisioned how being grown up would be. I grew up without much but aspired to be THAT person i went past on the way to school living in a nice area with THAT life.

The only thing i havnt got is kids.. which i thought i would have now.

Most people I am sure will say no. There are so many things that influence our journey. The end result not necessarily better or worse but certainly different. I certainly know that I am still to move in a farm surrounded by animals, growing my own veg and picking fresh eggs from the coop

I suffer from a lack of imagination so never really imagined my life path. You would definitely need a hyperactive imagination to come up with the roller coaster my life's been so far.

I am an engineering project manager so plan fairly heavily. I understand that shit happens you can't control and work around what life throws at me as best I can and try my hardest to walk on with my head held high and make the most of every day.

No. The early part of My Life yes. Just as I said I'd do as I kids I signed up for Queen and Country. These easy days in many ways despite the long hours and hardships. It all got complicated when I met a woman, married her and had kids. No of which I ever planned for as a kid. And I definitely didn't expect it all to end with me left literally holding the baby, living a Civillian life and starting all over again.

But life has a funny habit of leading you down paths you don't expect and taking you where you need to go. My life is not the simple life I had in my early 20s. But I have a great life, a wonderful woman and a wonderful vastly enlarged family. I am not the same man. I've grown. I understand the world so much more and myself so much more. And I'm still learning. I am more comfortable in my own skin and full of move self love than ever before. This life, this job, this family were not in the plan but I have really found what I need in life.

And as the years go on life seem full of rapture and regrowth. So logically I bet most people of a good age are not where they thought they'd be as a kid.

Although ironically I now do a job that was my dream job when I was very little.

Frankly, I have no real complaints about how life turned out; in my case the key is being exceptionally busy when I want to be and having the freedom to relax and recover, before resuming the process.

I have had a colossal number of experiences upon which I can draw in more challenging times; life is becoming more complex and the key, in my opinion, is to have the feeling of being on top of things: to have a sense of control.

Yesterday, especially, was a phenomenally busy day, that I had planned to see how much I could achieve within 24 hours; and then to relax today and evaluate my productivity.

No, I didn’t expect to be 41 and single again. My dreams now are for me tans my son to have our own bar and rental company in the next 10 years, so working hard now so I don’t have to then.

Nope, not sure how my life would pan out but thought I'd have it all figured out....In some things I have exceeded expectations others I'm not so sure

I did think I might be a Grandma by now but starting to realise that it may never happen, but I'm ok with that, life never goes the way you anticipate

It did not go the way I dreamt it would and I never dreamed it would go the way it went. But on the whole I am happy and content.

My advice, for what it is worth, is don't stop living whilst you can save up to buy your dream.

I knew of a guy who scrimped and saved for 15 years to buy a narrow boat so he could travel the canals of Britain and Europe with his wife when he retired. He retired; and died on the second day of his retirement having never bought the boat.

No one promises you tomorrow.
