Musicals that have no right being so good!

I recently watched Shrek the Musical and performed in Addams Family the Musical.

I was sceptical of both, but are both absolutely amazing!

They have no right being as good as they are!!!

What are your musicals that you think are way better than expected?

Even though I've seen it a billion times....on paper rocky horror is just bizarre

I think most musicals fall into this category though. Who'd have thought a show full of songs about cats based on t s Elliots poems would work?!

I like this until about 2/3 of the way in. Then I feel I’m transported somewhere else

Jesus Christ superstar was the first theatre outing I had in 1986, I went with drama class at school and I thought it would be about forcing god's word being young and stupid safe to say that I was mesmerized it was truly amazing to me. Having grown up watching musicals on tv every Sunday after doing the house work, we would settle down to watch a Tommy steele, Mario lanza etc

So 1986 I caught my theatre bug and have been lucky enough to see quite a few. But Jesus Christ superstar will always be a favourite.

Saw Donny Osmond in Panto earlier in the year, he sang 'any dream will do' from Joseph, it was awesome. My teenage self went nuts!

I went to a Sleeping Beauty panto with my niece and nephew this past Christmas for the first time since I was little. Thought it would be crap and I'd outgrown it, but it was right up my street
