"Not sure which way you'd look at it but there's far too many deer around. I love seeing them but once one runs across a road the rest of the herd will follow and there's nothing that's going to stop them including a Ford Mondeo! ![]() We know that from bitter experience.

"Is your underground bunker anywhere near a place where they normally cull but haven't recently? Otherwise without any actual knowledge, I'd lay money on them becoming increasingly marginalised due to human activity playing a large part " I'm pretty sure they breed faster than we are building housing at present. The fact that most species are also introduced isn't so good either. The biggest problem is lack of predators in the UK (because, obviously, we killed them all). We need wolves and beers back to keep the deer numbers down.

"Over the past few weeks I've seen a massive increase in deer killed by the roadside, more than I've ever seen before. Is this due to a larger population or mankind encroaching on the wild animal habits? I think it's due to the time of year hotter weather brings them down to lower land to feed ect. Bringing more dangerous situations for them. Roads at night being the main one. I may be wrong but it makes sense in my head " Think your head is upside down. I'm pretty sure it's the colder weather that brings them down because the ground isn't frozen and covered in snow.

That don't make sense. As I said I may be wrong. But I thought they went to the trees in winter as during this time they tend to live off twigs and leaves. Spring brings new food so head to open ground to feed.
