I thought this was going to be a thread where I could post a quote from one of my favourite scenes from Curb Your Enthusiasm:

"In the interests of full disclosure, I have a tickle in my anus."

Only if I wear cheap earrings, they need to be Stirling silver or they irritate me

Allergic to the type of earrings you are wearing, change them and it will probably stop.

Depends on the earrings, what they're made of.

(Assuming lobes) Try taking the earring out and applying surgical spirits on and around the holes. It staves off potential infection. May sting.

These are silver hoops, it happens with gold too. Hmm maybe my ears just don’t like to be penetrated.

Yes but I hardly take them out! So when I do to change them, it’s such a relief

Now you mention it, I have my ear pierced but don't wear an earring anymore and the hole can still itch occasionally

Yep so I stopped wearing them altogether. Rarely wear any now.

99.9% of the time I wear tiny sterling silver hoops

. Same I’m apparently allergic to nickel. It’s unfortunate too that my fingers, wrists, ears and neck goes black/green if I wear cheap jewellery

Try titanium ones as they are medical grade used for all the piercings from new.

Allergic reaction to titanium is rare compared to some of the other metals.

You'd be surprised how rarely it's appropriate...

I have lots of piercings in one ear that are there 24/7 and you’re right, they don’t itch. I assume they are titanium

Mmmm I keep mine on all the time , unless it’s a statement earring that’s way too heavy. Then I’ll just swap for something less heavy

Never experienced that but one hole recently rejected and closed itself off. I need to repierce the Fucker

I've heard it said before that if they're not used regularly, holes may heal up.

Never realised that meant ears too.

North West

Sterling silver is an alloy, usually silver + copper. Might explain the issue? As suggested above, try titanium or platinum, which are a lot less likely to irritate.
