"I have noticed that often the views on many things that I read in the forums are at odds with what people say on meets. The vast majority of people I meet rarely, if ever, say they use the forums. Are there two almost completely separate fab communities that rarely interact?" I think some are perhaps a bit over reliant on the forums as a way of becoming known on here and that takes precedence over actually meeting people

"I think there’s a lot of browsers, back in the day when I was on here before and actually met people, it was probably a 50:50 mix of forum users and non-forum users, but the non-users were browsers who messaged me after seeing me on there.. In terms of what people say in public on the forums vs what goes on in private, then honestly, take EVERYTHING people say on the forums with a huge pinch of salt. Particularly the bits about never cheating or meeting marrieds!" And a few of the other forum “favourite” convos

You’re right, it does become a comfort blanket

"I should have guessed this would become a slightly ironic forum users are Satan thread. " Met plenty. Shagged a few. Bunch of egomaniacs, nutters and opinionated muppets if you ask me. But I'd still rather meet one over much of the Fab general population if I'm honest. You get a much more interesting class of weirdo...... A

"We've met a fair few people recently at clubs recently who aren't on fabs at all. A few people we know use the forums, but not many." I am surprised there are many club goers who are not fab members. I can imagine there are some but would have thought it was a minority.

I've just never seen anyone that I like that is suitable and in meeting distance on the forum.

"Some people who use the forums, meet. Some people who meet, use the forums. Imagine a Venn diagram.... " I like this analogy, I sometimes post in a topic that I might have an opinion on or a story to add, but I’m in no way a regular poster. So maybe there’s another dynamic that bridge the gap? Maybe the occasional poster lies somewhere inbeteeen. People who I’ve talked to online and met is a 50/50 split I guess but I get a few more messages from people who have seen me on the forum and have read my profile so there’s a better chance of carrying on the conversation. What I would echo is just how important the forum is, from the nocturnal threads, the advice on the lifestyle, the fun introduction games.. all help relative new comers find a way to talk.. Maybe the forum could do with signposting a little better?

When asked the question on threads, I’m often surprised by how rarely forumites actually meet despite being all of the forum “like a rash”.
