Fabboids, I’ve been wondering if social media and other online ways of communicating, enjoying ourselves has had a direct effect on actually meeting as we are comfy in our own worlds chatting online and even reaching climax with no need to go out and actually meet!?!

Be great to get all y’all thoughts, views and opinions.

J

In lockdown on line communication was a godsend I wonder if some people got so used to it they decided just to stay home. I know that the longer you stay home the more difficult it becomes to go out and meet people.

Fab and other sites can be a tremendous facilitator to meet for those who choose to.

Fab and other sites can serve as an 'absolute' for those happily looking for nothing more.

Alternatively it can serve as a progenitor for meets, socials and anything else that goes beyond the 'virtual' experience.

This

When you’re single, it’s hard to get out of that state of hermitage

Yes. All are valid as long as it's within site rules.

I’m antisocial online and off. But there is more chance of meeting someone when I’m on here, than if I wasn’t on here.

I loved lockdown, chat and no pressure to meet.

I'm happy not meeting anyone really.

I think that many people reevaluated their lives, as well as found some extra comfort being alone and not socialising. It's impoverished, as isolated but means people take fewer risks, to their self-esteem etc. In many of the people in crowded environments that I'm in, many of them are in close proximity but engaging with others via technology, rather than naturally, with those a few inches away.

It's been an acceleration of several trends that had started before. There's probably a good number who managed with intimate abstinence, who aren't back at their earlier levels.

This is a very good point, I joined shortly before lockdown and felt like I developed this online persona that when restrictions were finally lifted I though like "Well fuck, what do I do now?" and it suddenly became real that I would have to step out of my comfort zone if I wanted to meet people.

I’ve definitely become more antisocial. I feel safe interacting online without the need to meet actual people. I obviously have my real, human friends but I have no need to chat with anyone new in real life.

It’s great

To be fair, I felt that way when I joined in 2018. It is a bit of a leap of faith

All that have responded so far have given interesting and varied reasons which is great.

Thanks...I’m looking forward to more input and insight.

I think an element of this may factor in some no shows. We get multiple opportunities to talk the talk and indulge a fantasy risk free. However when it becomes real I think for some it becomes too real, especially when they factor in the real life limitations of their life (that in fantasy world they don't have to).

That's why I like the real world. Real interaction, parties, clubs. In the real world we are stripped of the smoke and mirrors the Internet give us. We are there, they are there physically for one. Everyone has already committed to being in that space and thus shown a more tangible willing. Human to human everyone gets a far better feel for each other a lot quicker. I don't care much for the online world when it comes to interactions. But I accept its often the way of things and how I met My other half.

This in particular strikes a chord with my own ways of using fab and other ways of chatting to people.

There had been times when chatting has lead to meeting but I’ve had a stomach turning moment where I felt comfy chatting and meeting could spoil my stay at home safe in my zone feeling.

Brilliant description and agree completely.
