Is it just me or did anyone else take up this well paid( I say that jokingly ) October holiday pastime in the 70s and 80s. Thrown in the back of a trailer with about 60 other like minded kids to pick spuds for about 10 hours?

I did it for a while but quit as it wasn't very apeeling. (sic)

No but used to pick strawberries, raspberries and gooseberries. Used to think we earned a small fortune, then realised if we stopped eating more than we picked we'd have earnt more! £5 was a hell if a lot of money to a 8/9/10/11 year old in the 80s!! But then I grew old enough to babysit....that's where the money is lol

Yes use to go to uncles farm and pick the spuds each child use to get ride on the tractor for two rows
