I don’t think there has been a time when the uk hasn't taken Eurovision seriously, and performance issues aside, the songs have always been well crafted.

Have our songs been so poor that a tone deaf spoon playing granny gets more points?

No… we are most definitely entering a new age of being “liked” again - hurrah
