Freedom and independence to do what I want, whenever I want, with whoever I want, wherever I want, with no one to answer to, is what I value most for being single.

However, I do miss the intimacy of being with another person from time to time.

I just had a funny idea... we should name somebody offocially as a cuddle partner for all those who need one. It could be a rotating role for a well-mannered, kind and yet sexy man who would be happy to travel the country and be cuddly for those who need him

Yes and expect the other to be a mind reader, I think regardless of what you have to say, you need to be honest and be able to freely speak your mind in a relationship without any backlash to truly appreciate how one another feels.

Hugely important to be best friends as well as lovers, well for me anyway.

Yes I would consider M and I as soulmates, a bond that can not be replaced by a "normal" best friend.

Update : Had a both a suggestion and a request from Bobbytupper... he suggests the name "roaming romeo" for cuddlie... and puts himself forward, bravely and selflessly, to be on the rota

I remember years ago when i was married me and my then wife were in bed together making love, now obviously i loved her, but i looked down at my wife and then it just hit me, at that moment i realised how much i loved her the emotions that ran through me it was overwhelming, so much so i actually started to cry, sadly we weren't meant to be, but its a feeling hopefully one day i will feel again

Thing with me is tho I have been married, more than once lol I've never loved anyone so I was never happy in any of my marriages, therefore I can't honestly say I miss any of it

I consider myself very lucky. We lead very different lives and tend to be like ships that pass in the night! He works very long hours and offen away, when he's home I'm offen working. But because we are lucky to share a bed 2/3 nights a week when we are both home together it makes the imtmatcy even more special.

Especially love my main man letting himself in on a sunday morning and waking me up.

But this week I'm close to killing him! He was ment to be away tues-fri but is crippled with his back, so I've had him and the kids under my feet

Im no good at relationships ive always went after the wrong type. I like being single as u know where u are and being single for years ive got used to the independance. i hav lots of friends family and a lovely sexy fb. So im not lonely thats the main thing. Maybe when im old i wud like to hav a partner

Just been told I'm miserable via PM - and even though I know they're joking thought I'd extrapolate on my early post.

I see no dilemna because:

There'll always be too many issues in mine!!

1. I'm happy in my own company.

2. I'm too bloody selfish to be at anyone else's beck and call.

3. I'm actually a really shit husband/boyfriend - and that's my opinion rather than anyone else's! I much prefer to spare them the days/weeks/months finding that out!

4. If I want company, be it for chat, a drink or sex - I can usually find it - and if not - so be it!

5. See point 3 - it's important!!

6. I get bored very easily with any kind of routine - work, social or personal.

7. I'm shit with money. My own especially but I can be a very bad influence.

8. I have annoying habits. They don't bother anyone presently as they aren't around me long enough to find them irritating.

9. I can happily go days, and in some cases weeks/months without speaking to friends/family and not be bothered by this.

10. I'd rather eat marmite than join a dating site!

However - I completely respect the choices of others who prefer to be in relationships or actively date !

Sometimes I miss cuddles, morning sex, someone to snuggle with to watch a DVD, or to go out to eat with or to the cinema, or whatever.

Some of those things I can do with friends but it's not quite the same.

That said, I miss less as a single person than I disliked in past relationships.

I don't rule out having another relationship but it would have to be someone very special for me to want that. There would also have to be a degree of openness in the relationship. I don't think I'm made to be completely monogamous.

Ideally I'd like a few friends with benefits that I can do all the above things with but without the ongoing commitment.

Point 3 - delete husband/boyfriend, add wife/girlfriend...delete my opinion rather than anyone else's, add my opinion, everyone else's

Point 4 - delete I can usually find it, add I can always find it (single bi-fem dontcha know)

I prefer to have my bed to myself...shared last night at a party and cos I struggle with pain from my hip, I usually starfish all over the bed, changing position every 10 mins or so - poor bugger that was sleeping with me was woken every 10 mins, worried I was ok, using up a lot of the bed (he was 6 ft 9) and I didn't get much sleep...on the plus side - I do miss a Morning Glory...

I have spent more of my adult life in relationships than I have being single.

For me - the benefits of being single far, far outweigh the benefits of being in a relationship. And are more than worth any of the drawbacks of being alone, most of which are easy to overcome, in my experience.

The freedom of being single is nice, as can have those scruffy weekends when you want, but snuggling a pillow hardly cuts it at night.

Have been the bit on the side for a lady for a year or so (not from here so can chat about it)

That is almost harder, as you get the odd night of fun and cuddles and intimacy, but then its all over for a while.

Clubbing at swing clubs fills the social hole, where you can be a bit fruity, the need to not offend makes it very hard to be flirty with boundaries at work these days.

I think I'm too selfish actually to want a relationship for any of the right reasons. I can't help seeing relationships as investments... 'if you're nice to me, I'll be nice to you' If you can't be arsed then neither can I lol!

If I'm ill, I miss having someone to just let me be ill and look after me a bit.

Life is less stressfull if someone else can get rid of the spider in the bath.

My jokes are funnier if someone else is laughing at them other than myself.

None of the above either singularly or combined make for a perfect ralationship unfortunately. A couple of days with a guy, being cuddly, affectionate and whatnot is very nice...any longer than that and I get antsy...a whole week and I want to murder them

I'm staying single forever, my dear Dad died a week ago and the pain and sadness we all feel is awful but my poor mum is in bits. I'd rather not be in love then I wouldn't get so hurt when they leave. But then seeing how much they adored each other gives me a bit of hope. Confused and very sad
