You know when you know of all the steps to fix your life, but you always get put off because they seem like they'll take too long to take any kind of effect, so instead you just wait and watch your life go by and keep putting things off until one day you wake up and you've missed the boat on everything good in life and you realise you'll never get that time back and never be able to have those experiences that everyone else has had and now you're getting too old for it and your chest starts to feel tight and breathing gets harder?

Something I’ve realised in recent years is that you really can’t change the past, but you can influence the future.

So there’s no point dwelling on what’s happened before other than to use it as learning for the future.

I hope things work out for the best going forward. Take one thing at a time

I had this conversation with my daughter a couple of days ago, about doing things for her happiness and not getting to my age and not be able to do them.

You’re still really young so you have plenty of time to experience everything you want to, what experiences have you missed out on that you can’t experience in the next 10 or 20 years? I know it’s difficult but try not to look back, you can’t change the past and we’re naturally inclined to focus on the things we’ve done wrong rather than what we’ve done right (something to do with evolving to be better at learning from our mistakes). Also, don’t compare your life to other people’s, no one’s as happy with their life as they appear to be. You won’t gain anything from worrying about things you can’t change so focus on the things you can, but don’t try to change too much too quickly, lots of small changes over time build up to being a huge change. I know all that’s a cliche but I think it’s true and a good way to live your life.

At the weekend I met a couple of Ukranian refugees who'd left everything behind to live uncertain lives in a strange country. Their struggle is real.

There are people still in Ukraine, trapped in buildings that are being bombed without any food or water. Their struggle is real.

Just because there are people worse off than you it doesn’t mean your struggles aren’t real and we can’t ignore people who are struggling because they aren’t struggling as much as others. Where does it end….there’s one person somewhere in the world who’s struggle is worse and more real than anyone else’s…

Don't get trapped in the minds prison, life is beautiful, it's complexity is mind boggling. Our thoughts manifest our reality, and your only truly as old as you allow your self to feel, what is it you think you have missed out on, that you are now to old to experience? Your only 28, some would even argue life starts at 40. Some would say older then that. Don't beat your self up, it sounds like your in the mists of climbing out of a rutt, not stuck in one. Realisation is the first step for change, we was all born to suffer but the meaning of life is to be happy. Because once you choose to be happy, your a long way ahead of every one else. Maybe practice some stoic philosophy x
