"Sweeney 2 film is in my top ten British films (Long good Friday, is at number 1). Dennis Waterman played Carter brilliantly next to John Thaw Regan. Minder showed he could play another likeable character. I’ll miss him. RIP" Long Good Friday with bob hoskins is top draw gangster movie

"Blimey some privileged people casting shade on a generation they literally know nothing about . In no way condoning violence towards women but button it . Its fucking embarrassing Gosh, domestic violence is ok as long as it happened in the past " no its never OK. That's what I said In my initial post. My problem is the uneducated over simplified labeling of people and lack of space for contrition. Look back in your life and if you have never made a mistake you are a liar.

"Blimey some privileged people casting shade on a generation they literally know nothing about . In no way condoning violence towards women but button it . Its fucking embarrassing I know nothing about Gary glitter other than what I've read , should we still button it. ? " Well the original post asked what's your memories of him and someone mentioned their memories of him was as a wife beater. Someone else didn't like that memory so told that person to button it. I mentioned Gary glitter as another person with an unsavoury past and asked if they felt the same way about supporting him too. Hope this clears up your confusion bud. It's all part of the thread if you read through.

"My memory is his interview saying he punched Rula Lenska "but she wasn't a beaten wife". People can change and they can regret what they did, of course. But he trivialised what he did to her and never spoke about it again. " Plus, he only spoke about it because she did first! He was a bully & a wife beater. I'm not glad he's dead - his body of work entertained millions - but it certainly changed my opinion of him.

I can't eulogise a man who took years to acknowledge what he did and then minimised it.

"Loved Minder. Re the other posts I read 1000s of people calling Gazza a Legend when he brutally beat his wife but nobody says anything about that" I'm not a fan of him either. Or George Best. Sporting heroes to many but tarnished by their fondness for beating their partners.

"Gary Webster didn’t quite cut it for me the Dennis waterman years where the best as well as George Cole it had fantastic characters like detective Chisholm and his side kick Jones and Dave the barman everyone’s confident and some of the others like scotch arry brilliant show with fantastic actors good old British comedy sadly lacking at the moment " . I agree the Dennis Waterman years were the best.Looking back on it now there was a character in the Dennis Waterman years young man Justin played by Mark Falmer who looked up to Arthur and I think if they had developed him together with Gary Webster perhaps may have worked better.

Yeah he was only 53 also my mistake it’s Mark Farmer " another actor in the series who was good that was probably what made minder so successful was the cast and support cast all brilliantly acted and always had good writers was a shame they tried a reboot with Shane Ritchie and it got panned
