I do remember people having them. Think they were before my time.

I do have a portable CD player though. That’s more my time

I still have some things recorded on them and every now and again transfer something to digital. I don't use it as a medium of choice though. I have lots of old albums on cassette and they are likely to be binned some time, which I find quite sad. Luke

Back in the day you used to make a mix tape and give it to a girl you fancied those were the days

No, but I have fond memories of (and don't tell the royalties police) recording the top 40 on a Sunday evening and trying to stop the recording before the DJ started speaking at the end of each record. That was such a frustrating couple of hours every weekend

Don't bin them there are collectors out there who would love to give some of them a new home depending on the music, radio shows recorded on them and the type of compact cassette tape they are .

There are some Facebook groups for people who love use and collect cassette tapes old Walkmans and boomboxes .you can sell them on ebay where there is a lot of collectors as single tapes or as a job lot .if you choose ether route they will go to someone who will give them a new home , it saves on them going to landfill .Passing some thing on to someone who wants it has a use for it instead of throwing it away is the best form of recycling for the planet you can do in my opinion .

Minidiscs are highly collectable both the discs and the players .

I suspect that somewhere in my folks loft, there’s a box of C60 Sony Cassettes with a load of computer games on them for the ZX Spectrum computermabob. Classics like Atik Atak, Manic Miner, and Jet Set Willy.

There is collectors for all of the items you listed and all have some value some more than others depending on rarity .

So I do/did. I had to borrow one from a friend to play some old recorded ones I had.

Loaned to them all one Saturday d*unken night in. And found everyone on Spotify to create new digital versions. :-So yeh, I’ve got them still but might not over get played again.

But I play my vinyls now and again.

I don't use tapes now (as a music storage/playback format, you have to agmit that they are pretty poor)

But: I did recently buy a tape deck just so I could play (and convert to digital) some 40-odd year old tapes from my family childhood.

I have lots of fond memories on them including family singing, chatting with the grandparents and other precious stuff like that. The problem is I know I have a small cassette player somewhere but can't find it at the moment so might have to look for another on ebay or somewhere like that.

Yep. Vinyl store opened near me. A few year ago, one of the most iconic record stores in a nearby town closed its doors (we still raise a glass to it on a Friday night) that place would be raking it in now! Shame it couldn’t have had foresight, bug nobody really expected the vinyl market to become big again.

Here’s a fact. Only 4 places are still around that cut records. 1 is in Ukraine. Another in Russia. try cutting an album right now.

People use to send cassette taoe letters as well .again these are collected also because they contain a snap shot in time like a vintage paper letter does

I have a a large rock heavy metal record collection you would be shocked at what some of my collection is worth today . Rave and reggae records can demand high prices today as well as northern soul and punk .

Sound is not great but I like having a physical copy of stuff I love .

You can buy a specialist tape player off of amazon that does this if anyone is wondering how you can do this .

We still have quite a few, cassettes and records too. Just don't have anything to play them on.

Do you remember why you sometimes a pencil came in handy with a cassette?

It wasn't a joke, it always seemed to be your favourite cassette too that unravelled itself.

Yes. Northern Soul is massive round here.

I’ve got a guy keeping appetite for destruction to one side for me… trying to justify the high price for £50. Immaculate but god damn that’s a lot of cash.

Is it the cover art girl on the floor leaning against the fence knickers round her ankles guns and roses was here painted on the fence , if it is I would buy it and look after it because that will only go up in value because of the limited run of that cover before it was banned .

I'd suggest waiting for that one if you want a copy for your collection as its early and from the first and second run of that classic album if my memory serves me right . I own the t-shirt with that image on it from the first Wembley concert they did after making it big .

Paradise city is the song I want played at my funeral as I go into the flames . Take me home to the paradise city where the girls are pretty oh won't you pleaseeeeeees take me hoooooooooome .
