Posh frocks and fancy suits

Burnleyish (She/They)

I have a very lovely but very vanilla event on Friday, it's black tie... Nothing I own fits me any more and trying to find something to wear short notice is proving difficult.

Posh event, lovely hotel all on the bossmans dime, I just have to find something to wear... You wouldn't think it would be that hard...

Ladies hit me up your posh (but cheap) clothing store suggestions... I've got around £100 to spend but as cheap as chips ideally as I've another 4 stone to lose.

Tkmaxx might be worth a look, it was always my go to for fancy dresses. Hope you find something

Asos is brilliant for fast delivery and easy returns. A friend of mine was in a panic about what to wear at a wedding 5 days away. I ordered 8 dresses with the intention she'd send 7 back. They arrived in 48 hours. She kept 5 of them.

Charity shops and thrift shops in Manchester's Northern Quarter. Loads of designer gear for very low prices!

I have 3 designer dresses in my wardrobe which all came from charity shops. The most expensive one cost me £8.

the top in your profile pic would go well with a black bra/ sports bra top or

the skirt is what would be also needed

leather or even wet look

The extra top cover well id be looking at a ladies blazer

Nicola Peltz in a leather and lace outfit sort of view

It's a formal black tie event. Not Oscar red carpet.

Roman originals are too expensive and you can accessorise quite inexpensively

I suppose it depends what style you're looking for. Personally I'd opt for below the knee for a black tie event, which in my head would automatically rule Asos out (I did recently get a lovely midi dress from there, but it's far too low cut for me to wear it to a corporate event). I've got nice dresses from M&S, Monsoon have the occasional nice piece if I can be bothered to trawl through all the embroidered "Boho" stuff to find it, House of Fraser especially if they have a sale or offers on, ditto for John Lewis. I also have a couple of lovely dresses from Voodoo Vixen, but they're for when I want to go for a particular vintage look.
