None. I just intended to work, travel and spend my goldern years in the pub spending my military pension.

Ended up with 2 of my own (literally ended up with them) and have now acquired 5 more. Just need to build an extention on the house now.

Funny how life pans out totally not how you expected or wanted but yet turns out great in the end and teaches you important lessons along the way.

I don't think anyone should feel pressure to have kids. You can be perfectly happy and live a fulfilling life with out kids. Plus with load of extra freedom, time and money. Having said that once you have them you love them. They change you, teach you and shape you. So without them I wouldn't be the man I am today. I wouldn't have the life I have now or the wonderful woman I have.

A bit Kierkegaard but I guess have kids you'll regret it, don't have kids you'll regret it. Either or you'll regret it.

I don't have kids of my own and absolutely no regrets. My ex wife was sterilised before we got together. There was a brief period early in that relationship where I wondered if I'd be OK with this but, having decided I was, I've never regretted it. I was a dad in every way bar biology to her sons and have no desire to have my own.

Mr"

I've never thought parenthood was about biology. Turns out I get to put the theory in practice acquiring 5 more girls. Parenthood is actions and love, not biological material. Life is great without kids (especially the freedom). But for all kids take from you they do give you something back. Don't think you can have it all (although I do know a couple of professional auntie's who have their siblings kids a lot but get to hand them back). More than one way to live life. That why it annoys me about the pressure society puts on women to have kids. Although best some people still have kids because for a societies to have enough working age people to support the rest kind of needs about 2.1 kids to every woman.

Ended up with 3, now two full-fledged teenagers and a pre-teen.

In the social studies class when I was doing a-levels this question was asked. Most people said two or three, one girl said at least 5 as she really loved kids; I was the only one who said none. When asked why, i questioned why anyone would want to bring children into the world the way things were going.

I do have one daughter, totally unplanned, thankfully she is intelligent, artistically talented and beautiful.

That's really sad. Does losing your son not make you want to try make it up with your daughters?
