I’m bringing this back because as a result of doing this we now have a group of platonic friends that meet once a month ish…

All it takes is one person to start the planning…

I’m an antisocial bugger but occasionally I think ‘I’d love to have a coffee with so and so.. ‘

How many of you have someone fairly local that you’d love to just catch up with socially. Without any pressure or thoughts of anything more… same sex, opposite sex, make it a small group date… there are loads of us who live fairly local to each other that could easily make this happen. There are several fabbers who are part of my day to day life.

If this appeals post that you’re in and where you’re based and let’s get some dates in the diary!

Yes is the short answer to that!

Every social I've been to has been friendly & fun - no one trying to get in each other's pants.

So if you go with the right attitude, you'll be fine.

Yep. Smaller socials are a definite good idea, larger socials can bring some potential issues with them (due to larger groups mixing, nothing sinister!). As far as people being there for each other, it depends on the friendships formed - several of my closest friends I've met at socials and I've got the pleasure of a good gossip/natter and coffee with a few of them very soon. When you find the right people for you, you find them, regardless of how you met.

My first ever social was the Shrewsbury one. I went on my own, as my friend cancelled at the last minute. I'm glad I did. 3hr round trip but was worth it 'cos the they made me feel so welcome. I've been back since & will attend again.

I'm not sure why some folk on here are nervous and assume folk will be a bit off or have an agenda. Why on earth would people do that?

Not where we seem to be...

There's quite a few people not too far from me I'd like to meet socially.

If only I could be arsed.

My enthusiasm for anything remotely sociable is not existent.

Ours is now a friendship group. No competition, no daft stuff. Just people who genuinely like each other’s company and are happy to make the effort to meet up every month ish. It’s lovely.

Ummmmmm no daft stuff?!?! Mr M comes along, FFS. Red has cleared several rooms in the past. We ONLY do daft stuff

true… it’s nonsense, pure nonsense… but it’s bloody hilarious!!!

I THINK it's accurate to say there's been no you-know-what under the table, but even that might be fiction "

Yes is the short answer to that!

Every social I've been to has been friendly & fun - no one trying to get in each other's pants.

So if you go with the right attitude, you'll be fine. "

Absolutely true. I'm a different size than Red, so no matter how beautiful the lingerie, we'd look damn silly in each others pants.

Well I was thinking small but there's a lot of interest. I'm thinking to begin with a group that meet fairly regularly and accompanying telegram group. The group you seem to have is very similar to what I would like start, a group of platonic friends of likenined people.
