No, not coming from a blowie...

OK so, when I'm SUPER tired - I'm talking like, it takes more energy than I can muster to move from the sofa up to my bed and the thought of even having to wash my face and set my alarm makes me want to un-alive myself - I tend to hear noises as I'm dropping off. Mainly like, knocking and small banging noises but it can be a little freaky.

I googled it and apparently there is a phenomenon called Exploding Head Syndrome caused by muscle spasms as you're falling asleep. It seems that in general, people who are affected get it every time they fall asleep though, and tend to hear louder noises than I do, but now I know that this is Scientifically A Thing™ I feel like there must be people here who get this, right? Am I alone?

That sounds super weird & it must be very annoying!! Is there anything suggest to help? White noise, maybe?

It's only when I'm super incredibly tired, like if I've pulled an all nighter or I'm really hungover and haven't slept. It's like, inside my head so I don't think white noise would help. It's not annoying as such, just a little unsettling and horror movie-like

A gunshot to the head of trepidation?

(Who's going to get the reference?!)

Sometimes I get a louder bang but most of the time it's knocking.

I get this sometimes, it feels like a surge of electricity through my head as I fall asleep. It's quite unnerving

Having a wank can help with all kinds of pain.

Good for period pain.

I get this from time to time… also I wake up suddenly thinking I’ve heard the doorbell or a knock on the door in the morning, but no one was ever there… it’s really disruptive sometimes I can get it a week in a row
