My wife was shopping in town with her mum buying some cut flowers in a supermarket.

An older white lady barged between them and snatched the flowers from my mother-in-law’s hand.

My wife protested but the lady told her to ‘go back to her own country’.

Unbelievable. The supermarket are looking into matters..

I feel like we were heading in the right direction and something happened a few years ago that gave racists the impression that they were in the majority. No idea what that was though.

Sorry to hear that, Byron. Awful. I saw something similar in Tesco recently; matronly woman of Caribbean descent checking out an elderly lady's groceries.

"Is it hot where you come from?"

"Sorry love?" Confused

"I bet its nice where you come from eh, which is just as well cause they'll send you back there soon"

I was horrified. I apologised on behalf of the old lady, but the checkout lady wasn't phased. "I get it all the time love, best to let it not get to you"

Sadly racists feel they can act this way since government and MSM made it acceptable. Disgusting behaviour.

This is the thing. People look at me and see a pale skinned white woman, so assume I'm 100% native Brit. They can't see the (relatively recent) immigrant in me (of a different race than Caucasian).

OP - very sorry your family had to experience that

Older people are generally more racist, it's how they grew up.

Progressively younger generations are more inclusive of all types or people, be it race or gender etc.

It just takes time, you won't change people like that late in life.

Unfortunately I'm increasingly of the view that bigotry just evolves. So old people are more likely to be bigoted in ways that most people today find shocking, but younger people are more likely to be bigoted in new, exciting, innovative ways

Hence why young people still experience racism from other young people.

In order for things like this to continue to exist, they have to adapt and evolve, take different forms etc.

Luckily, such ignorant foolish people are very much a small minority....good, open minded people far out number those dinasaurs

I moved from London (born n raised @The Oval) to Lincolnshire 2 years back and it's a culture shock, go into Skegness and the tourists are mostly from the north or midlands and just blatantly racist, they use language that I thought died out in those 70s sitcoms! Seems as though they still think that "they come here steal our jobs" or "go back home" is perfectly acceptable ways to talk and think, makes me ashamed hearing it still.

This is legit a reason why I would probably never leave London and if I did it would be for like Manchester or Birmingham.

I'm an Australian citizen, born and raised in Australia. So are my parents. So are/were my grandparents. So were the majority of my great-grandparents. The majority of my great-great-grandparents were British subjects in the colonies of Australia.

And yet I'm "more British" than you or other British citizens?

It's just bullshit.

They have delegitimised anti racism on occasion. They also for some reason like to present two sides to the racism debate. Don’t know who that’s helpful for? And they have in the past definitely been enablers or racists and racist content.

The comment I was querying was that msm have made racism acceptable. That’s not what I am seeing. Anti-racism messages are pretty clear.

Exactly, antifa has been painted as a bad thing, snowflakes, lefty liberals, all because some of us don't think it's acceptable for people to be treated badly because of skin colour! you can see the undertones of racism in it.

They platform racists all the time. They also completely delegitimised a need to protest against racism in the UK like two years ago. (Not the movement, the actual motives). The MSM are not allies.

A good example is Twitter. How long was Katie Hopkins allowed to tweet vile opinions? Wiley had one outburst and was banned instantly. Both were wrong but what was the big difference?

Anyone querying whether the MSM tolerates racism should look at the Daily Mail comments section. I've lost count of the number I've reported for racial abuse and yet they are rarely removed. It just emboldens people to think their views are now acceptable in everyday life.

That’s horrible, and ignorance is still so prevalent. Disgusting that I had to explain the concept of racism to my 9 year old daughter after she heard a comment made about our family in the park from some girls that were walking past. What’s even crazy is that they were mixed race and have no doubt will have had or will have racism directed at that them at some point in their lives, yet they find it acceptable to do same to others.
