"Had to skip Parkrun this past Saturday due to pain. I did push 2 miles mainly uphill on Tuesday, did that in 29mins. Hoping to feel up to a Parkrun/push on Saturday. " Excellent! I’m sorry to hear that you’re hurting a lot. Is it hampering your 10k aspirations?

Other than if I'm seriously ill or something, I'll be on that start line ![]()

"I underwent a big operation on 1st April and 32 days later I went out on my first post surgery run on Tuesday of this week. I ran little under a mile just to see how my body responded to running. My stomach/torso area was absolutely fine even though I felt quite tense. I am looking forward to doing it again and rebuilding myself. Very happy and relieved lady NBVN x" Loved reading this! That first outing back after something like that is always the hardest

"I'm on the search for a new pair of running shoes, this crap runner loves having the best equipment despite my obvious poor running ability. I'm looking at the on running cloudsurfer 6's, what are you go to running shoes peeps?" I use Asics GT-2000 9 for road running and Asics Gel Trabuco 9 for trail running. Basically the same type of shoe for road & trail as I like the fit. I would like another pair of trail trainers for very muddy conditions with bigger lugs to really hook securely into the mud but the ones I have are a general good trail shoe. My feet are narrow and I over pronate. I have tried other brands and other Asics trainers but these Asics trainers suit me. Good luck on your search. NBVN x

"Back from a parkrun this morning, still regaining fitness so some time off my PB but, on unofficial timing awaiting the result to come through, about 30 seconds improvement on last week. Every little helps! " Onwards and upwards

"I’ve lost my mojo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sometimes it’s ok to just take a break and find your mojo again. Don’t kick yourself, maybe you just need another challenge?

"I did parkrun this morning. I got a PB on that particular course (I've only run it once before) but it wasn't a particularly good time for me but it wasn't terrible. Then I climbed a mountain. So my legs will be treated to yoga and a rest tomorrow. " Excellent! Well done!

"I’ve lost my mojo ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Yeah Covid type of ilness meant I couldn’t run for quite some time and my son has really gotten into bouldering and that’s sort of pulled me back into it. But I need some cardio work but just can’t face it. I’m sure it will return Took my first cold water dip of the year yesterday too so perhaps that’s the spark ![]()

"Ugh, my first run. When I was peak running condition I think I managed a 26 min 5k. Something like that Todays 5k - 36 mins Ouch. That’s tough " Comparison with where you used to be is a tough stick to beat yourself with and many people get injured trying to chase where they were rather than where they are now. Give it time and let it come back to you, don’t push. You’ll get there. 36 minutes isn’t awful by any stretch! Well done

"I’ve had a really long rehab from injury and finally back up to running 10k twice a week plus a couple of 15k a month. Last month I started to get pain with my old injury so I went back to 8k and the last week I’ve had a heavy cold so haven’t been able to break 5k. Really frustrating. I don’t class myself as a ‘good’ runner, I have to really push myself to achieve personal goals. " One of the things that I always say to injured or ill runners is to listen to your body. If your body is fighting an illness, long distances are going to be a struggle. Give yourself time to get better! It sounds like you’re doing well though. Congratulations

"I just had to run without music as I can't find my headphones. I'm sure it made me slower. " That’s a similar excuse that I used to use ![]()
