"It's very likely anxiety has a positive evolutionary function, an early warning system for possible harm. Unfortunately that developed when the harm was real and identifiable but in our modern world anxiety is often triggered by abstract or imagined danger. We are very much stone age brains in a digital age world." Stress has an evolutionary function, and stress levels are and have been necessary for our survival... anxiety in itself manifests through overthinking and panic attacks, mostly linked to trauma and insecurities triggered through external factors (things out of our control), therefore I don't see how it can serve a function or be linked to something positive

We evolved like all animals to deal with immediate danger and once that danger went then so did the stress and anxiety. Now faced with long term and abstract or imagined danger which we can't control it therefore become much harder to control our response.

True...if you interlink stress and anxiety, they become the same pressure bubble. I get what you are trying to say
