Talk to someone who will listen to you. Might be depression might not be. And go see your GP.

If you think you have an issue make an appointment with a doctor, or call Samaritans if it’s making you dangerously low.

I would say from experience Fab is not the place to be with depression especially if you have low self esteem.

Get help, talk to someone and leave fab for a bit

It took me a decade to admit to myself that I was depressed and the first thing I did was try to identify when it started. I didnt see a doctor until the feelings of suicide were unbearable, but I recommend speaking to your gp way before you get to this point.

Call samaritans as they can also give you numbers for organisations that can help you out, long term.

Just dont do anything stupid bcoz thete is hooe at the end of the tunnel, may not feel like it now but things will be ok & you will be ok too. Talk to someone 1st your gp then someone you know well & trust to have your back.

Take good care

If you need to chat, message me

Recognition is perhaps the first step, maybe it would be good to talk to someone. Good luck

Another vote for speak to your doctor.

Or maybe call or text one of the mental health helplines.

Trying to deal with talking to a doctor in a foreign country with the language barrier isn’t an option, so just dealing with it really.

I was hit with depression some years ago.

I had no idea at the time.

One morning it hit hard, I called work and explained to my boss that I couldn't face walking out of my door for any reason.

Her response was what helped me realise, when she said she had noticed a difference in me and asked if I thought it might be depression, then suggested I should perhaps speak to a doctor.

I did and was diagnosed with depression.

I've seen recognised the signs and try to take control of my thought process.

GONE/TIMEOUT (No DMs please)

Good that you are aware of a possible issue. Definitely worth talking to someone.

Fab can be an issue in the sense of the euphoria rush of a meet, then the crash of a no show etc, or even nonresponse at all can grind you down.

But certainly stick around here for general chat. Always someone about to talk about cake and such

Everyone suffers at different periods in their life as you can see from here there’s a few who understand too. You’ve made the hardest step that’s realising it, the next step is to make an appointment. You can do it and I wish you well

Bravo for speaking about it so openly. We shouldn't be ashamed of mental health issues. It can happen to any of us at any one time, regardless of race, age or profession xx

Talking therapies are good in conjunction with medication and I have found yoga to be very beneficial to me recently

I usually talk to a close friend or one of my family. Sometimes I take an online test because then it's in black and white and I can't ignore it.

It might also be worth checking if you have a local Man Down group or Andys Man Club. It can be helpful to know you're not alone in going through it.

Take care OP. It's a big step even realising how you're feeling

I wasted loads of time before taking to my wife and the doctors, I wish I'd been able to get my head around what was going on a lot earlier, as I'm doing a hell of a lot better nowadays.

I didn’t know what it was until I split up with my kids mother. I spoke to her father and he told me to go to the doctors and tell them how I felt.

First step was the hardest, but best thing I ever did. And I’ve always been grateful to him for making me go there

The first thing that you need is someone to listen to you when you need them 24/7, they must not try to fix you, just be there for you.

I volunteered in mental health assisting in art therapy groups for five years and had my own depression. PM me if you want. I have also done basic counseling training.

Most GPs are quite aware of mental health issues these days, but you can always request to see a different GP if you feel you need to.

Samaritans are good in a crisis and there is Mind if you want to get information.

Most areas will have a NHS Wellbeing service of some sort, you can usually refer yourself to them directly, but if not then the GP will sort you out.

You can also look to see if there are any local support groups, they won't offer treatment but it can be another way to get advice from people who are going / have been through the same thing, though they are usually not qualified.

Gp was first port of call for me, they put my on anti depressants and referred me to community mental health team. In meantime I had to disclose medication to work due to the nature of my job and they also referred me to our occupational health department. The triage nurse there was the first to really get both barres of what was going on in my life and bless her heart, she must have been so out of her depth but she just kept on listening whilst I got it all out. I’m so grateful to her.

I stopped taking mine. I can't remember when. When I find myself not able to control myself I still have access if I need them.

For anyone who might find visiting the GP tough, there are some good self-help options listed here.

For most people with clinical depression, it's caused by chemical imbalance in the brain. It's not something self inflicted or caused by something someone has done. Doc will listen to your smpytoms and give you professional help. Also there's lots of informative vids on you tube (ted talks/ huberman lab) that break it down and help understand yourself better x
