"Are people supposed to spend their time looking at the floor now invade, god forbid, they look at someone?"

I think it’s more the weirdos that stare continuously at someone making it visibly obvious are the problem ..

I look at people / say hello and equally people look at me. The squat rack can be spicy though when the group of lads are loitering and you are in middle trying excersize with some idiots just looking at your ass / tits in mirrors walls .

Staring and creeping is way way different to glancing around while using a treadmill / machine ..

I would get arrested if I wore anything as tight as the leggings some of the women wear in my gym.

Its hard not to notice. A couple of weeks ago there was a young lady training in the gym. From 15 feet away, via a mirror (we were both training facing the same mirror) er leggings were so tight I could tell her left labia was slightly larger than her right. No I didn't stare, she was just right in my field of view.

I’m torn on this. When I was bodybuilding and I was getting close to a show I liked wearing a string vest during workouts because I liked how I looked and could see the hard work paying off

But as I was getting shredded I’d get a lot more looks. This made me self conscious. I didn’t like the lingering stares

I didn’t blame them. Or request they didn’t look. I realised I was in a public setting where people can use their eyes as they please. I also realised they were looking for the same reason I liked wearing the vest.

So I stopped wearing the vests.

I don’t believe it’s as black and white as people want to make it out to be.

Staring at people in a creepy way is wrong

Wearing cloths that are very revealing are gonna make that happen

Pick your poison and deal with the outcomes

I tend to work out when I know the gym is likely to be empty, early hours or very late.

I’ve been approached by a number of guys in the gym but they had recognised me from done insta promo videos that I’d done for said gym so I suppose that’s to be expected.

I did have a guy who recognised me from here approach during my workout and try to get into sexual chat. That was grim.

I do wear quite revealing clothes at the gym so maybe I’m also asking for it.

Who knows. I try to avoid people and interaction as much as possible.

It's only human to look. Some people look as they are impressed with that person body, lifting/gym workout, their clothing is showing off their body in one way or another. Sometimes people just glance round and they catch eye contact with someone else. It's a range of things. Unless they are standing staring at you , it's only nature. It can't be helped, it doesn't mean they necessary are doing it in a creepy way, however if self conscious maybe working out at home/outdoors/choosing a quieter time/area is viable.

When I used to work out In my speedos and cover myself in baby oil I would often feel lots of eyes following me around the gym, so I stopped putting the oil on however I still got wondering eyes

Joking aside I think there is a big difference between having a sneaky look at somebody and making somebody feel uncomfortable with lingering glances, if people are looking it’s a bit of compliment however in my opinion that can become pervy and a bit rude/disrespectful very quickly. That goes for men and women

There is a few comments about being self conscious in the gym. Remember you are their to better yourself and that should be applauded and you do being there. The same as everyone else.

Unfortunately now there is a trend for (mostly young ladies) to wear revealing outfits to the gym then record people (without their knowledge or consent) when they look in their direction then ripping them on social media and calling them creeps.

I once had a guy move to directly behind me when I was doing RDLs. They gym still has white boxes marked on the floor from Covid. We were both in ones in front of the mirror with one empty one between us. He picked up his dumbbells and moved to the square behind me even though there was nobody else in the whole area and I was now blocking his view of the mirror. That's the kinda shit that makes you uncomfortable.

I would go in, listen to some music and do my thing. Of course, bloody mirrors everywhere. I could see the pointing, the laughing, the snide comments between people.

I try to get fit, drop a bit of weight and just generally better myself, and thats how some react.

Never once did I have a positive thing happen. Never a 'good routine', never recieved any tips or pointers. Never so much as a smile or nod when walking past people.

Ruined the whole thing for me and eventually quit

OP, you clearly haven't been here for long. Threads that objectify men are fine, try doing it with women and you'll be flamed. Even the guys who would normally be stood around drooling will criticise you.

If you're looking for a positive response to a clothing thread I suggest you ask about men in grey joggers. Never seen anyone say stop perving and just let them workout on one of those

Yes! God it makes me uncomfortable. Squats or deadlifts when you're being stared at and even sometimes talked about.

I'm a big fan of bright patterned leggings (I spend too much money at tikiboo) but in the gym I tend to wear as plain and boring as possible to not attract attention and save the tikis for walking/running
