i recently paid for a family birthday meal.there was 8 of us altogether.it was my daughter's bf's birthday.when it came to ordering the meal because (and this is what i thought)my daughter's bf had the birthday money he refused to order what my son had asked for.which was sirloin steak, all the rest of us apart from the bf wanted fish and chips, this is also what my son in the end ordered. I didnt say a word,as even though i had paid for the meal, the money was for the bf.there was enough money to pay for all the meals with plenty to spare.should i have spoken up? We were in a busy pub.

Why did the bf have all the money if you paid? Did everyone think that he paid?

So you gifted him the money and he used it to pay for the meal?

What is it you feel you should have spoken up about?

Sounds like he made sure everyone got the cheapest meal possible so that he could keep the rest of the money.

Did you give him the money as a birthday gift or specifically to pay for the meal?
