For fucks sake or for fuck's sake? Are there multiple fucks being saked or is the sake belonging to the fuck?

Fuck's sake. There can only be one fuck!

"Depends. Do you have multiple fucks or just the one?"

I think that depends on whether I consider it one big fuck or decide to break it down into little tiny fucks

I've always assumed it was 'for the sake of fuck', but I see no reason why it could be for the sake of fucks. In which case it would be for fucks' sake.

It's "for f*ck's sake".

If there are multiple f*cks it is "for f*cks' sake".

land of make believe

The correct phrase is for fuck’s sake because something can only be done for or on behalf of someone or something’s sake. In this case, we’re concerned with 'the sake of fuck' so fuck becomes possessive and gains an apostrophe.

Maybe ???

It derives from 'For God's sake', so it would be for the sake of a singular fuck.

'For fuck's sake'

It's for the sake of fucks, or, probably more accurately, not for the sake of fucks

It's a variant of for God's sake etc. That has an apostrophe. So should the variant.
