We play both kinds of music, Country AND Western

A Home Among The Woodland Creatures

Let's hear your favourite Country and Western songs.

I'll start with my two favourites.

D*unken Angel

A song written and performed by Lucinda Williams about her friend who was shot through the heart and murdered in a bar fight in Texas over an argument about a stolen army veteran's benefit cheque.

Unless the song is a melancholic lament about the death of your favourite hunting dog called Duke or your favourite pickup truck finally blowing an engine gasket, it doesn't get more C&W than that.

Next up

Clay Pigeons by Clay Foley

I could explain why I love it - but why spoil it

I'm not a huge C&W fan so don't know much about it, but my Grandad was so a few have sunk in. For no particular reason other than them making me smile/reminisce, I love:

Roll on Mississippi, Charlie Pride

Wichita Lineman, Glen Campbell.

And, veering onto a "thread I need to start" tangent, 'Rhinestone Cowboy' by GC too as my all-time fave karakoe tune!

Count Your Blessings Cottage, Gratitude Grove

Ooh I love to listen to all country radio

Shame there’s not many country weekends going on, the only ones I’ve seen advertised are in Blackpool and Skegness

I started watching Yellowstone - some cracking songs used on there. I'm assuming they are modern C&W tracks.

In a ball gown because that's how we roll in N. Devon

Totally and utterly my jam, OP!

I couldn't pick one stand out above all others... but Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan have been doing it for me for the last few years.

Wichita Lineman has special memories for me, and My Oklahoma Home by Bruce Springsteen of all people tugs at my heart.

There is apparently a C&W song called "If I'd shot you when I wanted to I'd have been out by now".

Tenille Townes - I kept the roses and when I meet my maker

Anything by Cam, such a beautiful voice and the most awesome lyrics, plus Country ain’t never been pretty is just brilliant.

Alison Krauss, Lady Antebellum, or rather Lady A now, which is just an excuse for a giggle.

We got both kinds. We got country and western, great quote from 'The Blues Brothers' movie

Not really a fan of C&W, closest would be Kelly Clarkson, the version of 'Because of you' she did with her (former) mother-in-law Reba McEntire is pretty damn good

quite close to you

Not a massive fan but:

Witchita Linesman - by Glenn Campbell (he also did one of my favourite early rock n roll songs with his band The Gee Cee’s - Buzzsaw)

And

I Can see the want in your eyes - Conway Twitty

Missin’ Yo’ Kissin’

I'm quite partial to "Islands In The Stream" - Dolly P. & Kenny R.

Jo Dee Messina & Tim McGraw - "Bring On The Rain" (where's me Kleenex so I can have a good cry- ahem.)

Anything Johnny Cash - an amazing performer/writer/singer artist!

Tennessee Ernie Ford - "Sixteen Tons." Johnny Cash does a good version of this too. "Another day older & deeper in bebt....."

However, my all time fave female singer of C&W is Patsy Cline. She can cross over to pop as well. "Crazy; Your Cheating Heart; I'm Blue Again; Let The Tear Drops Fall"

Shania Twain "Any Man Of Mine; (IF you're Not In It For Love) I'm Outta Here; The Woman In Me (Needs The man In you); You Win My Love; No One Needs To Know; I'm Gonna Getcha Good"

Anything by the man in black Mr. Cash.

Amazing voice, amazing songs, amazing life.

How Joaquin Phoenix didn’t win an Oscar is beyond me.

Also, while Dolly Parton isn’t my favourite singer, having listened to her interviews, she’s an incredible person.
